"Things I can't let go of" or...

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:46 am

Ok, I just wanted to state a list of things I would like to be included/changed. This is my personal opinion/suggestions to the game, you're free to add your own and comment, but be original.

- Can't craft arrows: I thought this was a given /sadface
- I can't manipulate the things I grab properly: mostly aesthetic (ever tried to flip a goblet or a jar? harder than ancestral dragon on highest dif)
- Widescreen mode is locked on: doesn't affect me but some people can't read font size 6 on normal TVs.
- I can't emote, dance or get drunk: RP details.
- Not dealing with mechanics (perks, spells, resistances, etc. they're ok imho), the game is fine but has lots of exploitables (crafting abilities mostly).
- Companions need better AI... at least better pathing.
- Can't attack while riding a horse...
- If it's locked and I have the key, auto-open instead of lockpicking sort of nerfs my potential and ruins immersion. (Also, Y NO "Open Lock" spell? Y NO drop keys?)
- Can I haz camera control (zoom out) on 3rd person view please?
- Improve collision: It was cool at first but now I'm sick of being hurt/killed by bones, ribcages, skulls, wagons, etc.
- Improve food: it's merely a RP element in it's current state (read: not very useful). Some regen stews/soups/whatever are fine though.

I love this game, thanks to all the guys at Beth for their efforts. I know it has issues. I know it can be better.
I hope that some of our suggestions would be read and considerated for future content (patch or DLC), despite the abundance of fire trolls within http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/118-skyrim-general-discussion/. Meanwhile, I'll read everyone else's suggestions and wait for 1.3.

Not to mention most of the text on the bottom of the screen is half-way cut off. I could read the font, if it was only on the screen.
- I can't emote, dance or get drunk: RP details.
- Not dealing with mechanics (perks, spells, resistances, etc. they're ok imho), the game is fine but has lots of exploitables (crafting abilities mostly). Crafting abilities are exploited by those who want to exploit them. They are not powerful in any sense if you use them sparingly or not at all, and it's easily possible to do without them.
- Companions need better AI... at least better pathing. I agree somewhat. Companions generally walk in a more or less straight line in your direction. This sometimes makes them step on traps. Most people don't know this, and blame crappy AI for not making companions programmed to know where every trap is and avoid it. Although, not in as many words.
- Can't attack while riding a horse... Yes, this is sort of a problem, having to dismount before every fight. But, it'd be fairly hard to implement. While not entirely impossible, it might take some of the challenge from the game if you're on a quickly-moving horse and can deal damage.
- If it's locked and I have the key, auto-open instead of lockpicking sort of nerfs my potential and ruins immersion. (Also, Y NO "Open Lock" spell? Y NO drop keys?)I think an adventurer would try all of the keys he found in a dungeon before trying to pick a lock. It's only common sense.
- Can I haz camera control (zoom out) on 3rd person view please? It exists. Hold down the third-person toggle button and the movement stick/buttons. It zooms it out for me.
- Improve collision: It was cool at first but now I'm sick of being hurt/killed by bones, ribcages, skulls, wagons, etc. I haven't run into this yet. I've sometimes hit things at weird angles and they bounce off the ground back at me, but my character's health bar only shows up, it never even budges.
- Improve food: it's merely a RP element in it's current state (read: not very useful). Some regen stews/soups/whatever are fine though.

Everything else I agree with for the most part.

I wish I could favorite entire outfits so I don't have to go through and individually select every piece when switching between assassin and mage.

You can get rid of keys. Why are you saying you can't? I never tried to drop one, but you can easily put them into containers.

My biggest beef is the one you listed about not being able to manipulate objects easily. This is really just a vanity thing, as it only helps with decorating :)

I like the guild requirements......it was in Morrowind. Might be pretty cool. Of course it may be in here. I haven't tried to get my pure mage to apply for Companion membership. Would they let him in? Does anyone know?

Yes, you can. I am the Arch-mage of Winterhold, Harbinger of Companions, leader of the Thieves Guild and an agent of Nocturnal.
