Things to do in Fallout New Vegas

Post » Tue Jan 12, 2010 7:53 pm

I'm getting awfully bored with NV. Although its a huge world, IMO I don't really have much fun ideas to do in it. Hopefully, you guys can post ideas about things to do in NV or links to similar topics. Either way, I just wanna hear some ideas that may be very fun for me in NV. Oh and btw, I have 2 saves. One Ceasars and 1 NCR. If theres any ideas concerning those, im listening too.

First of all, its two more endings you havent seen, yes man and House :)
Second, look for a mod called "world of pain", "New vegas bounties I" if you have NV to PC. They add alot of content to the game.
You can try to roleplay as a character with hardcoe mode if you havent done that yet. Try play as a gambler, powder ganger, bounty hunter, scavanger, trader, assassin. The oppurtunities are endless :)

And oh yes, lets not start a disscussion if NV have little content or not. So Westofcookies, stay out :P

yea it can be tough to find things to so since most human enemies don't respawn...

try completing all the challenges? try getting all the skill books? try getting a million caps? try getting all unique weapons? try killing everyone in the game? try being santa claus and give everyone in the wasteland a dino toy?

Have to agree with the original poster somewhat. I've completed New Vegas as NCR, House, etc, and it's at the stage now where I'm walking around collecting cameras (a-la Broken Steel). DLCs help, but when the game has a finite ending and you're playing the same storyline over and over, then now matter how you play it it gets very repetitive. Glad I'm on a PC so I can mod, I'll go look up World Of Pain now

this is hilarious and brilliant. kudos.

do a playthrough where you level up your skills completely opposite as you did last playthrough. start with survival and finish with guns/EW/explosives.

try to complete all quests. find all unique weapons, etc.

one of my favorite pasttimes is killing fiends around vault 3. never gets old for me (just wish they would increase in number as you level up). hang out at the deathclaw promontory.

i actually don't have very many ideas lol. i have been entertained with the basic game (ps3 also) and trying to make as many caps as i can, so i haven't needed to think up things to do.

You can't eat them while they are alive.....
And you can't just crucify anyone you want.

Go to Ceasers camp villified and destroy all those scrubs. Watch out though the people in Ceasers tent can kill you. Go take each NCR base our 1 by 1 with your CL character. (my CL charecter isnt sure if hes going to do that)

Two things I'm currently doing, to make things interesting:

1) Ceasar playthrough, specializing in unarmed, devoted to killing every, single, ncr, npc, ever. For an added bonus, took cannibal so that I can really seal the deal. Started that one over the weekend, and just finished devouring most of Mojave Outpost.

This character will also be doing everything possible to screw up the wastes as badly as I can. Help the fiends and Khans. Dismantle the NCR. Eat the president, etc.

2) different character, this time, with no physical stats. A single point in Str, Agil and End. That gives all 9s and 10s elsewhere. Been playing that guy for a while now. It's ... Interesting. I went with energy weapons, but mostly rely on companions to kill things (which they do VERY well, with a charisma of 10) I also made that guy as hideous as possible, so I lul a little bit every time I see that face and think "oh yeah, super charismatic!!"

*sigh*
Why do so many think that "Oh I'm going to be an evil character, how can I make it as evil as possible? I know! I'll join Legion."
(Sorry if that's not what you meant but the whole "took cannibal so that I can really seal the deal" made it seem so.)
Can't people create "good" characters and join Legion?
How about creating an evil as hell itself character and join NCR?

Try going to Scorpion Gulch only armed with a knife, and see how long it takes for you to clear out the entire area?

Or go to the Ivanpah Dry Lake and have ant races......:D

Who knows, alot of Legion haters out there lately. I for one made a Legion character who isn't one mean ol hag. He's nice to everyone but the NCR really.

You could always play a kill everyone playthrough. You could go into say the strip and pack it full of c4 ( on the streets and in pockets)-.

You could always play a kill everyone playthrough.

Were trying this one before I put NV on hiatus.
What [censored]s up the concept of the "kill 'em all" playthrough though is that they just "had to" leave one merchant alive. (Gun Runners.)
Thought the point of it was to royally screw oneself yet they had to leave an option open for trading crap... <_<
At least it doesn't cater to EW.

Anyway, I tried it and it was really fun, cause when I broke my limbs trying to kill NCRCF I went back to Mitchell and went "Oh... [censored]..." :P

I guess because of the whole 'enslaving and crucifying their enemies' thing? Y'know, just to hazard a guess. The NCR offers precious little in the way of crucifiction opportunities.

(The most fun faction for an evil character is definitely Yes-Man though. No gods, no masters.)

@gabriel77:

You DO realize that the Legion is a bunch of slavers who subjugate their women and crucify (i.e. brutally torture) anyone who opposes them, right?

That's not to say that the NCR are beacons of truth and justice. They're over-reaching imperialists who exert their laws and taxes on everyone they "save."

One very prevalent theme in NV is "grey and grey morality" with no truely "right" option. And I'm certain you could fit any kind of character into any group. However given the 3 main factions (not counting "No gods, no masters") I would have to rate CL as most-evil-est.

At least NCR gives their troops time to have fun on the strip. Amy legionnaire asking for a bit of R&R would likely be given the Burned Man treatment.

Have a read: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1161505-legion-or-ncr-debate-6/
Just cause they crucify and enslave people and are sixist towards women does not mean they're completely "evil".
They're good people, they just do bad things to achieve their goal.
People should be more openminded, stop comparing Legion to the real world morals and think about the wasteland in the long run and not about their own self-comfort.

(Still, let's not derail the thread mkay? Have a read at the link I gave you and/or just try being openminded with Legion and side with them a good guy/gal.)

So you are saying that slavery, crucifictions, sixism, and other things are just fine and dandy based on the situation?

also, a thing you might wanna try is playing a game where you fight as little as possible, maybe make a stealthy pacifist. It might not be "fun" to you (or me, for that matter) but it would be challenging.

I think I explain my POV on the subject in the threads I linked.
I have no intention of derailing this into a "Legion are good!" or "Legion vs NCR vs House" thread.
You want my opinion on it then read the threads I linked.

But yes, in short, Legion aren't exactly the nicest cats around but their goal is noble and by far the best for the future of the wasteland when compared to the other factions in 2281, even if they use slavery, crucifixion and sixism.
