Things from Fallout.

So we know that Skyrim will have perks similiar to Fallout 3 and the level-scaling will also be more similiar to Fallout 3. What else do you think Bethesda might bring over from Fallout 3? Or what would you want from Fallout 3 in Skyrim?
For example, maybe companions?

Better wildlife and hostiles. Although the credit goes to Obsidian. Coyotes guarded their pups, losing enemies pleaded for their lives and tried to run away, it made a difference whether you put one a bullet in the leg, arm or head.
Diversity in the environment? More encounters and events along the way and such...

The perks are nice but hopefully it won't be every single level because with a level cap of 50 that means 50 perks, you'll be too overpowered and it will probably screw up the balance just as much as Oblivion's level scaling.

More encounters? I was always so annoyed with the extreme amount of encounters I had in OB. Going down from a mountain you had your Ogre and Brown Bear and Bandit every 100 meters or so along the route. And then they respawned just a few days afterwards and you had to do it all over again. And again. And again. Random encounters are great during the start when you're playing for levels, but increase it. Set respawn days depending on level maybe to reduce the annoyance factor. But yeah, make the encounters more natural too.

losing enemies pleaded for their lives and tried to run away,

Actually that was in FO3 as well

I hope they just stick with perks, but time will tell I guess

edit: and companions, I wouldn't mind me some companions

Yup. Well, I don't know about you, but I enjoyed the encounters in FO. I wasn't that annoyed in OB by them either. I don't know what the point of a massive open world RPG would be without encountering enemies or other stuff in the wild though.

*snip*

May very well be, but it's like in no way possible to deny that NV's was another huge improvement, not to say leap... :cookie:

We know it will have level scaling like Fallout 3's. Lets hope they take things out of obsidians book and turn to New Vegas for inspiration for factions or something.

Depends of the perks themselves tho. Specially if there aren't classes anymore.

Yea travelling merchants would be a nice addition, as would companions of various sorts. (Minsc and Boo!!)

I prefer the karma system for theft of items, and you could sell them to whoever you want.

And for bow combat, I would like head shots. I do wonder if they've put in a VATS style thing for bows, like if you draw a bow you get a second of slow motion to pick your target limb. Its not something I would like particularly, its just if there are limbs in this game then aiming a bow becomes a minor pain with fast based combat for accurate hits on uneven ground.

Maybe a fast reload perk for bows, same with weapon equipping, a perk that increases that would be useful since the new magic system means you need to sheath your weapon to cast right?

I did like the sneak system where the enemies could see you if you got too close or were in light, but we need a better system for determining if we're in shadow, especially with 1st person

Precisely. Also with 6 or more perks per skill you will only be able to have 50 of 200+ so you can't get them all. Forced specialization, finally.

I'm actually pretty excited about the perks.

At least we don't have to worry about efficient leveling anymore.

-No fast travel markers available at the start of the game.

-More meaningful NPC<->NPC conversations, recognising who they're talking to.

-Interesting 'dungeons' that make sense. Most of Oblivion's forts and ayleid ruins don't look like anyone ever lived in them, the layout often made no sense. Fallout's dungeons looked as if people actually live(d) there, and there are often a few hints of what the place was like in the past.

-Encounters and quests found outside of cities and settlements (more people on the road).

-Fallout 3 added choices. Skyrim should take it a logical step further and actually add real consequences to them.

-Companions.

-Keyring for sure. :P

Haha, yes. This is probably a lock to be in Skyrim.

location damage fo sho'. If I put an arrow into my target's eye I want it to hurt!!

did FO3 have diversity in its environment? the capital wasteland was all generically rocky and post-apocalyptic to me (as it should be given the background). But agreed Skyrim should be as diverse as MW.

I hope, that like New Vegas, you can play factions against each other. Since Skyrim has always had rival cities, and Tamriel is now in civil war...it would be perfect for a couple powerful factions to be vying for power. You can choose to join one, or work with multiple for a while like in New Vegas.

There are a few things they took out of fallout like perks and once ur up in lvl the weaker enemys stay while the harder enemys start showing up ,But i wouldnt go as far to say that its going to be alot like fallout 3 ,even tho it was a good game fallout 3 did have its falts.
But for what its worth the info that they have came out with has made me a very happy camper,I just want 11.11.11 to get here alrdy :)

Unless you are a totally lost amnesiac, I'd want (and expect) travel markers for major cities.

While Bethesda's going to impart experience from FO3 along with whatever they individually picked up from small talk with Carmack, Brian and his team, along with Obsidian. I doubt any mechanics will make it in.

Yes there's perks but TES -has- had perks for awhile now. Difference being it was streamlined into the system. You didn't have much choice over it. I feel Bethesda thought giving a customizable choice over perks was a good design choice to vary characters.

Now was it a good choice? We'll see in 11/11/11

Personally hope we don't get here quick otherwise I might of not accomplished much this year too. Lots of games. One I got fairly interested in recently is Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Unles you're a native to the region, I'd find not knowing where every major city is to make perfect sense.

I'd find that as being [usually] lost. It depends on the story they have.

** The Bethesda games that I have played, all start you out as a non-native in a strange land.
