Things left unfixed in game

Post » Sat Dec 28, 2013 7:40 am

I'm making this topic to point out that, though very playable, Skyrim is still left with many major glitches that could easily be addressed.

I remember in Bethesda's post on the news feed though work on Skyrim is over, patches will still be rolled out though I still have not seen any which leads me to believe that was a straight-up lie.

The glitches I am gonna' point out are few and catch my attention far more than the occasional texture clip or physics bug.

So yeah, here they are;

  • The house in Raven Rock is in fact a dungeon, according to the game. Inside the house, the game plays dungeon music. Also there is very little lighting which is extremely annoying and more so, you cannot move your spouse and children in to live with you.
  • Mannequins are still extremely bugged and duplicate items or don't display them at all. This is especially evident in the house in Raven Rock but happens EVERYWHERE.
  • Horse combat is still not fully functional. The range of weapons is extremely low and their damage is somewhat weakened. This could be easily fixed by tweaking some numbers, considering that horse combat would usually be on the go, the speed at which you hit people/creatures would make for devastating damage. This is not so in Skyrim. I think the weapon damage on horses should easily be tripled and their range/hitbox coverage should be adjusted to make it easily hit things.
  • The Dark Brotherhood hood for male characters does not display the mask.
  • The Alchemy/Enchanting/Blacksmithing bug still works.
  • Perks still work even after you make a skill Legendary meaning if I level up my Archery to 100 a couple of times, I'll be shooting arrows at the speed of light.

And that's it.

I see those things every day and they are so annoying they pushed me into writing this thread though I'm 90% sure noone from Bethesda will give a damn.

Thanks for reading, feel free to post any suggestions or thoughts below! :)

What Bethesda meant about future patches is only if there is something "game breaking."
This is not a bug. It does not accidentally happen. It is a choice made by the player.

No... The post said nothing about that. I'm offered a house in-game only to find that it's full of broken things which I could fix myself on the PC with TESCS. By reading that post I was actually hoping for fixes to these things.

I, for one, appreciate the fact that after legendary-ing my speechcraft my merchants retained the 500, and 1000 extra gold coins.

I did lose the everyone is a fence perk, but the extra gold is always welcome.

That I don't mind. But reading your bow 30% everytime you make a skill Legendary kinda' defeats the purpose.

I hate the mannequin bug. In my current playthrough, I set some Redguard apparel on one of them with the Akavir hood and such and decided I wanted to replace it with Nordic Carved Armor, but every time I re-entered my home, the mannequin would be sporting the Akavir hood again, even though I removed it. So, I had to leave it as is.

And horseback fighting isn't terrible. It is a little bit difficult to get the angle you want when swinging a sword, but outside of that, I don't mind it.

And I didn't know the place in Raven Rock was supposed to be a dungeon, but that's interesting to know.

Also, the cancelled Windhelm Pit is a disappointment. They should've added it. Even as a cheap DLC, like Hearthfire.

After playing Warband for dozens of hours, I feel that mounted combat in Skyrim is bloody awful. Thankfully, I don't play this game for its combat, so I can ignore this problem.

Only bug that I find important for them to fix, is the cleanup of weapons/shields/bodies.

Some will say the lip sync bug.

I assume it was going to be an arena to fight creatures.

1. ok, not really the worst of problems

2. You have to be careful with them but they will not duplicate if you do not put armor on them and remove it before exiting the menu

3. that may not be a bug

4. I think they left the mask off males for a reason, issues with beards and all that. You could argue that the beast races are bugged due to the no face mask but look at their faces, the shrouded cowl (with the mask) does not cover the whole face unlike a certain thieves guild quest line reward. My problem is that the unmasked version is bugged on khajiit.

5. Um . . . that is most likely not a bug and Bethesda said that there are bugs that they will not remove *cough*Skyrim's space program*cough*

and you are right, most of these are things that Bethesda will probably not give a crap about.

Just take a look at the http://www.iguanadons.net/Unofficial%20Skyrim%20Patch%20Version%20History.html. A lot of fixes you won't ever get for console.

THERE......ARE.........NO..........MORE...........PATCHES...........

i am not sure how many times it has to be said, there are going to be no more patches. They stated there would be no more patches unless it is game breaking, and considering the game is still running after such a long time, that means no more patches. Beth is DONE with Skyrim.

Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed. We’ve invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it.

As needed, which essentially says there is the possibility of updates.

AS NEEDED, there is no "need" to update it to them. nothing is making the game unplayable. Sorry, but at this point, it is being delusion to believe that there are going to be more patches.

Really? I never knew of that bug.

Maybe it is not a bug, maybe Bethesda saw all the people going on and complaining about how legendary skill resets are pointless (basically every other thread in the days leading up to 1.9 being released) and decided to tweak it.....

(kidding)

Edit: You know, the more I think about it, it kind of makes sense that your perk skills would continue to stack being legendary and all... I know it would eventually make you stupid overpowered but so does full smithing+ full enchanting, more or less.

How exactly detailed were the 1.9 notes on how legendary skills work, are we sure it isn't working as intended?

... well I guess if that were the case it would go from 1-5 to 6-10, for example, after the reset, so..... I don't know.

and I imagine it is only certain perks that stack and are therefore bugged, not all of them, right? (I have yet to use the legendary skill reset option so I don't know)

I'd imagine it wasn't intended, the Legendary Skill feature was faaaar from useless, it effectively removed level cap allowing you to gain more perks while retaining your older ones. The fact that this eventually makes you overpowered is the reason I'd like this fixed, but I don't care for it as much as fixing the house.

They did say "as needed" but these things that drive us gamers crazy Beth will not address as they probably look at them as non game breaking. I think the only updates we'll see are the ones done by the modders.

The one thing that gets me more than anything, more than the mannequin issue is the display cases. I'm sorry but that's a bunch of crap.

Oh I never thought it was useless, personally, but a lot of people did and do.

Many people don't see the point in getting a skill to 100 and then resetting it to 15, you don't lose the perk points but you do lose perk placement and therefore the skills gained by that placement.

I just see it as the price or sacrifice that must be paid if you want to surpass the level cap, I never had a problem with the idea of it.

How do you think us console folks feel, we don't have the option of modders adding updates, we are stuck with it...

Which is why my current character is the last one I will be playing on console, going (back) to PC in my very near future.

Honestly though, besides the little annoying bugs and quirks, I have not yet experienced anything game breaking on XBOX since I bought the LE (had issues before with the original version + addons off of Xbox LM, don't know why or what made a difference). Well, not what I would personally consider game breaking anyways.
