Things We Love about F4 that Wasn't In FNV Or F3

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 7:15 am

This is a hard one.....

Power armor and combat. Oh, and the graphics were much better this time around.

Oh, OH, the dynamic weather is really cool as well.

And uh.....trying to think positive here.....uh....

The Gamma gun! Yea man, that Gamma gun is pretty rad man. :)

You're either trolling or you're just talking BS to try and justify your hatred for voice acting in Fallout. The male SS's voice acting isn't bad at all and even if it was it would be nowhere near Preston levels.

Melee combat with weapons. It cracks me up taking a combat shotgun to a raider's head and hearing them grunt in pain mingled with embarrased shock or engaging them in a s&m style dual of batons. What fun to hear the sound of smacking skin :chaos:

On the spot karma system with companions letting me when i am doing something they like or dislike.

The romance system with companions and the lovers embrace perk which comes with at least Piper who so far is the only one i have romanced or intend to with my current character.

The facial system which expresses so much emotion. Love the flirting and love struck looks i get from Piper. Then there are her lines full of emotional impact. Talk about awesome voice acting.

The fact that i have only played two characters since release day thus far because that is how much FALLOUT 4 has me engaged in everything it does compared to past games where i found myself starting over many times except for SKYRIM which also was keeping the restarts to a minimum.

The stunning main quest and endless side quests which give off a beautiful Boston vibe as if all its past ages have fused together into a end time reality.

1. Letting your weapon rest when not in use. When I pulled out a rifle for the first time and my PC had it shouldered, but then let it drop to an "at ease" position, I thought that was the sweetest thing in the world.

2. Voice protagonist

3. Settlement building. Even if it still has some work to be done, it is amazing to have it in the game.

4. Stackable armor. I think this has a ways to improve, like settlement building, but having it in the game was close to a dream come true.

5. Cooking. And it actually is worth the time!

Verticality. It quite literally adds another dimension to game.

I really dig how they incorporated it into the downtown area and places like Quincy.

Weather changes are a great add as well.

No completely useless junk.

Feral ghouls, I love that feral ghouls now freak me out. The way the slither out of windows or ceilings before swarm rushing you. Frackin creepy as.

As mentioned by others the weather is great. The storms feel real and the rain is awesome. If you add the better storms mod it is even more so

Also being able to cancel VATS if your target moves behind cover.

Edit: feel free to reference me if you want

Loads of people have said building settlements, I know, but I love it because it really gives you a feel that things are changing for the better after the great war. That, and the fact that ghouls seem to be more accepted now, I realise in Diamond city they aren't tolerant of ghouls still, but it's nice that we have a ghoul mayor and settlers making appreciative comments regarding the farm at the slog. Both of these features show real development in my opinion.

If you're talking about the generic yes, no, calling out companion names, ect, there's a reason there isn't as much emotion if you actually bothered to do research. You clearly haven't been paying attention for everything else.

The point is, if you think the male SS's voice acting is bad and on the level of Preston then you have no room to say anything on voice acting because you have no idea what you're talking about.

They used verticality in past games too but I definately like how well it has been used in FO4. Wasn't a fan of Quincy since none of those roofs where occupied, only the highway, with the exception of a few turrets, (felt like a wasted project), but looking out in the distance from any church tower, from the entrance to Vault 111, and from Trinity Tower was very well done. The most noticeable was when you first enter Diamond City and you look down at the market place and can see both the Upper Stands and the plebs in the center.

Very nice point, and definately something Bethesda have been improving on, however, I still feel the view you got when you left Vault 101 (also at a height) surpasses all those moments in FO4; but that's probably more nostalgia than it is being actually better.

Building settlements

Junk is now useful

and just the fact that it is a new fallout game with new areas to explore and new (even though somewhat boring) quests

It's bad. It's the worse voice acting ever done but it's still pretty bad.

Skyrim and Oblivion were the epitome of terrible voice acting. Though at least the Imperials and occasionally the Mers and Redguards in Oblivion were alright. Skyrim was just plain awful with Circero being the sole character with any semblance of what one might call "voice acting".

salt and pepper shakers!

i love everything they've done with this one. it's more than anyone ever expected.

it's ashame that people still complain about these little things that erk them when they have so much content and so much to do.

no level cap,

building,

combat mechanics,

voiced protagonist,

conversation mechanics,

loot mechanics,

companion interaction,

upgraded enemy and companion a.i.,

the list goes on.

one thing i don't like is how they handled the combat shotgun. it's just not as powerful as it was. and that was my favorite weapon. fortunately, we have added elementals to even it back out. still doesn't feel as powerful though. maybe i need the blast shotgun?

Again, it's not bad. If you actually bothered studying voice acting you would know that. The words you're looking for in the case of the generic lines you hear hundreds of times is toned down. The reason that the actor was directed to tone those lines down is because him not toning it down would have gotten irritating after the 50th time or so. If you need an example of why that's important play the Deadpool game.

Literally the only bad delivery the male SS has is that weird, out of place "Ashes, go home!" line.

"The settlers are relieved (pause) to not have them to worry about"

"ugh.. raiders"

My biggest issue is that he sounds like a bored [censored].

Only line done well is "[censored] Kill!"

They picked a really unlikable voice.
