Things We Love about F4 that Wasn't In FNV Or F3

The settlers line is glitched out, that isn't the voice actor's fault it's the dev's fault.

And again, the raiders line is a purposely toned down line.

yaaay, i really wanted another thread where people complain about the voiced protagonist

I like:

- Quick-loot is AMAZING.

- Freedom to do whatever I want during dialog.

- All junk has a purpose.

- Uniting and building up the settlements feels great. Really making my mark on the game world in a unique way.

- Leveling up is a ton of fun, really like the perk chart.

- Power armor.

Stuff that wasn't in prior games that is awesome in F4 (this is stuff mostly also noted by others but I'll add my vote, so to speak):

- Settlements! Even if the system needs more work, it's great what they've come up so far and I love making an impact on the Wasteland's development in a way you could never do before.

- I can walk away from dialogue

- Best weapon and armor modding system I've seen in Fallout and I especially love that you can mod power armor

- Limited flight via the jet pack

- Improved, advanced monster mechanics (the way feral ghouls can ambush you and chase you, and mole rats burrow)

- Improved companion dialogue, sandboxing, and romance options

- As the post right above me noted, that all junk has a purpose and isn't just something you accidentally pick up and get annoyed by

- Improved weather effects and radstorms

- No karma system (I guess this is a "deduction" rather than an addition, but its loss is an improvement to the game--it was too simplistic and too wonky; I like that my actions are judged by my friends and no other).

- Better sneak mechanics

- Improved voice acting and more voices for characters

Something that really put me off of Fallout 3 was the repetitive boring wasteland. Long stretches of desertland or piles of rubble. Fallout: New Vegas was much better for this. Fallout 4 is a great leap forward.

really, what's up with the voice acting bickering? i think it's alright, perhaps not oscar winning material but it wasn't tom hanks either.

it's okay if one likes it and another doesn't. will they get tom hanks for the next one? well, lets hope not. that just wouldn't go well with the atmosphere.

anyway, who cares? beth threw it in and i think it worked well. again, not the best in the world but surely not the worst either. have you watched cable tv lately?

me either! I'm too busy playin fo4!

It's more lovelier to look at but I don't think they've added anything - rather diluted and prettified some of what they already had.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm enjoying it.

Tom Hanks would fit in nicely.

Love the avatar Meetra! I will give you my inverse thought first, and say I wish the story and interactions had more meaning and consequence as they did in NV. FO4 does a true city environment WAY better! Except for all the boarded up areas. I just started to order some PC parts so I can hopefully run the GECK and fill some interiors out.

I think one of the earliest things I did with Fallout 4 is get myself the equivalents of my other Fallout characters armoury and try them out on my Fallout 4 character.

The result is really amazing. My Fallout 3 character uses a Laser Rifle and Pistol, and they just feel so bloody good in Fallout 4. In New Vegas my character uses a .44 revolver, and it just feels so much better in Fallout 4. Its to the point where I don't think I want to play a modern-ish shooter again, the gunplay is on par with a game all about the gunplay.

The new power armour system also forms a central part of the Fallout 4 character. Aligned with the BOS, using X-01 Power Armour and heavy automatic weaponry to clean out the filth of the wastes. Been waiting on the GECK to come out recently though since I want to rechamber the minigun for some new calibers to up its effectiveness, the gatling laser is good but I feel like I need more variety from the lasers I use in Fallout 3, and there's also a nice M16 rifle I spy on the Nexus that would make a great companion for single accurate shots compared to the spraydown of fire from the minigun.

The modding system is also a joy. Ive got a 10mm pistol ive named "Never Forget" that has been my sidearm since the very start of the game, and its still completely relevant to combat at Level 70.

You've not seen cable in awhile? I haven't seen another person for a month!

Anyways, good things are being said. Like I said, if you want to be directly referenced in the video (and as for number ten is brought to us by smosh from the Bethesda Forums) you need to tell me if you want, other then that I will not reference you and only one of you have stated it.

I forgot to add that i really like the new VATS system, and with that the new Critical system. I like to be in control of my number crunching and the new Critical system is awesome for that.

U named it all sir, and i will have to add: The weapons customization (of course)

BUUUUUT i also miss 1 thing from NV. The weapons and ammunitions variety. Crafting ur own moneyshot shotgun shells, armor piercing rounds, hollow points, match rounds, and the incredible variety of guns and different calibres.

There is where i feel like FO4 got a pretty nasty downgrade. I still miss the 12 gauge shotties, aswell as the lever action ones, the .45 M1911, the anti materiel rifle (oh come on, u install the .50 receiver on a regular hunting rifle and that's it? still looks the same, and oh wow u deal +10 dmg with a cartridge that literally triples the power of the original plz...), i miss having that LMG just for teh lulz and the opportunity to sparay that 5.56 ammo, the BIG revolvers... just why did u have to cut all of that Beth? did u get jealous at Obsidian?

true ^^ I obviously named only the positive improvements, because of the thread-name :D

another big thing that I'm missing from New Vegas is the actual 'friendly' city that we had... Vegas was so huge, had so many different interesting NPCs, so many cool quests

Diamond City is nowhere near that :/

and while it may be realistic to have smaller communities in Boston, I'd be happy to see a bigger 'city'... a city with the size of Concord or Quincy, having a big wall around it and only friendlies inside :D

Walking Dead did a great job with Woodbury and I'd love to see something similar in Fallout 4, considering that we already had it in New Vegas :(

Love the new power armour, but theres too many easily available, and you get it way too early

Weapon animations and use much better,

like the weapon customization but not a fan of "magic effect" guns

Animations in general much improved, I even caught a radstag sleeping the other day, so thats some great detail.

Still has great art style and models, ex. the magazines, ads and game cartriges are great

The settlements are a great idea but not implemented properly

Nice lighting in the engine, dynamic weather and tbe rad storms rock. the voiced protagonist is good (but not the dialog wheel), esp the female actor who did a great job.

There are also quite a few things that I disliked after coming from NV but those topics have been covered rather a lot in the forums.
