Things We Love about F4 that Wasn't In FNV Or F3

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 10:24 am

Alright, I'm starting this off with saying this will be put into a YouTube video for my channel. If you want to be directly referenced, please let me know in your comment. Other then that, first come first serve, meaning if someone tells me one thing and then someone says it again, the person before (if they wish) will get credit. Please try to give a reason why And be specific and detailed (as best you can), cause if you just give a few short words, I will not include it.

What I love in FALLOUT 4:

-Armor and Weapon Customization- it makes a lot more guns we use more personal. We can name them and even change them heavly, both ascetic and stat wise.

-Power Armor Requireimg Fusion Cores- I like this part because it makes it so you don't need to go through hell and back just to equip it, and even then they don't really require Fusion Cores. So in my opinion, a bonus.

Ordering Deathclaw to kill helpless raiders lol

Easily done at the Lynn Wood and abandoned building near to its north.

It`s just fun. Having deathclaw in your party has presence unlike anything else.

Building your own settlements, yeah, it was actually fun once you use mod to make the place more livable, now they just need a Hearthfire expansion to give us the ability to make our own houses and name Codsworth our butler or something. :P

Companions, they have a lot more life to them than previous games. I like bringing characters around that have stuffs to stay all around the Commonwealth, they also have their own likes and dislikes and react differently and could even leave if they dislike you enough. Plus, i like the little touch like allowing the characters to engage in relationships and stuffs like that.

The control, it was a lot smoother than previous games.

Clothing, there are a lot more clothes and clothing option. Ballistic weave is a cool touch allowing us to not having to lug around a power armor.

-How people die- I like how they Aren't stupid deaths, where they'll spin around 3 or 4 times before dyeing, they'll actually die like a normal person. Like they'll clutch the bullet in their shoulder while going down, ore you'll see them just collapse forward after a headshot.

I like that the dialog system is not paused and the game continues.

I also like that if you are taking time to answer a question the NPC responds with with a comment like I do not have all day or something like. I also like that if you have a companion with you sometimes they might take part in the conversation as well.

The system still needs improvements.

Voice protagonist is easily the worse feature added to this series. If I didn't spend $60 on Fallout 4 and just spam skip conversations dialogue I would have put this game down already. The male voice actor is just as bad as Preston' voice actor. I'm sorry but voice protagonist added nothing good to this game. If you like that's great but I'm going to skip the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout if it comes back(or wait until it's like $20 used) and I'm pretty sure it will.

I like that VATS doesn't completely freeze time. In Fallout 3 and NV, I can't tell you how many times I've opened VATS up juuuuust as a guy was walking past a pillar, thus blocking him. In 3 and NV I had to exit VATS, wait for him to move, and then reopen VATS. In Fallout 4, they keep moving after opening VATS. When the guy walks behind that pillar just as I'm opening it, I can just wait a few seconds for him to come out on the other side. Granted this can work both ways, but I think it's a nice improvement.

I love the gunplay. I love weapon mods and how they change the gun's feel.

I love being able to traverse the rooftops and overpasses (with or without a jetpack) . The vertical world provides more options on how to approach a problem especially with lightly armored, low endurance, low health build that relies on stealth. Love the suppressor mod on guns.

I love that the companions now have dialog progression and quests.

I'm not a big fan of voiced protagonist until I played as a female. Now I love the female voice protagonist.

The dynamic weather is a great inclusion, one that is palpably lacking from 3 and NV.

The voice acting it's terrible. The sarcastic option can be funny like telling someone to go [censored] themselves in a Irish accent.

So the problem is with voice acting which could be fixed easily if they find a good voiced actor that doesn't sound like a bored white guy.

I like a lot of things about Fallout 4, so much that it's making me excited about the things they could be adding with DLC. I'll reveal my top 5 likes about Fallout 4 below.

1. Settlement building is so much fun, I spend hours just putting the foundation together. Some reviewers on YouTube back when the game first came out compared this feature to Minecraft. I never played Minecraft nor plan too, as I watched a friend played and it's just too weird for me, making this feature kind of special for me.

2. Weapons and armor (non-powered) modding is simply amazing, I haven't seen a gear modifying system this intense since Army Of Two (original game of the series) and Army Of Two The 40th Day (second game in the series). I absolutely LOVE this feature!

3. Power armor modding just like generic gear modding is pretty intensely AWESOME! I love the part where you can paint it and customize it with newer parts, kind of like upgrading a PC or a vehicle.

4. The combat reminds me of playing Wolfenstein The New Order which I really loved, sometimes I forget I'm playing an open world RPG (in a good way) and getting worried it's gonna start the credit's in any minute (since FPS based games are pretty short in comparison to Fallout). I feel that since Bethesda included really awesome combat mechanics makes Fallout 4 largly superior to Fallout New Vegas & Fallout 3 (combat wise) put together.

5. The revamped perk system, revamped effects of the 7 SPECIAL attributes, no level cap, and the removal of skills from the previous games make the overall level progression very entertaining and makes it exciting when you level up and get to choose your perk.

Finally my favorite! I have to say I find nothing more entertaining that using colonial era stationary artillary on groups of enemies (when near a settlement) and the laser musket in most combat situations. This idea Bethesda came up with is absolutly one of the coolest things I have seen from them thus far.

You've obviously never seen the guy on drugs or being angry. He does heavy emotions far better than Courtney in my opinion.

Been doing a New Vegas playthrough with a FO4 playthrough, and I have to say one thing is always jarring and really makes it hard to go back is the changes to gameplay at its core.

Sprint Mechanics, VATS Mechanics, Power Armour = Vehicles, Ghouls Motion and Speed, New Rad System + Rad Storms, New Grenades Mechanics, etc. etc. These things have updated FO4 in a way that really makes the game feel smoother than FO3 and NV, and genuinely makes it harder to go back when you realise that you are going to have to walk to your next location, or fight combat in the way you did before.

The game does feel so much better in many areas, even though I have complained on these forums of a few things here and there, overall it is a better game than the past entries.

I like how f4 was smaller than previous games. I also love the lack of likable characters or intersting quests.

lol

On topic:

Combat is much improved

Weapon and armor customization is pretty cool

PA actually feels and plays differently

Dynamic weather (Rad storms look awesome, would be nice if they were a bit more meaningful though)

Interesting companions (mostly)
