Things I missed

Not being able to join all the Great Houses was great. You had a more vested interest in the House you chose, and it added replay value. I should hope that you cannot join every guild/house/whatever in Skyrim. Also, the I quite enjoyed the Imperial Cult. The last five quests turned into epic adventures searching for powerful artifacts in unique locations. I wouldn't want the Imperial Cult back in Skyrim, but a questline that sends you on unique, epic quests like that would be welcome. A hunters guild, for instance, where you start out hunting wildlife, and eventually hunting down legendary beasts and the like. Something to break from the mold.

How do you miss something from a game that didn't exist yet?

I played Oblivion first

Me too, but i agree to all who like diversity over simplicity. Take Morrowind, take out 90%, and voila, Oblivion is done.
So not going into detail, but just encouraging the idea of having everyone from the Skyrim team forced to play Morrowind a minimum of 100 hours, at least those who haven't already.

That makes perfect sense...but I personally think that these armors mean more to the heritage and culture of Vvardenfell like Imperial Dragon armor is to Cyrodiil. Armors like orcish, dwarven have become norms in the elderscrolls games -- plus there are dwemer ruins scattered throughout Tamriel, the most densely populated being Vvardenfell. So they could be fetched within the province. Why we did not see any in Cyrodiil is beyond me. Perhaps we'll see some in Skyrim. :)

I understand where your coming from, i think that way about the Ordinator armour, but i always saw Bonemold armour as being the Dunmer equivalent of say, steel in other provinces, that is not all that rare/meaningful just a good staple for their guards and great houses, which each house made varients of, but thats was just my take on it
Still maybe there could be only a few suits on some of the Dunmer refugees, and not for sale at all.

And it was disapointing not to see any dwemer ruins in cyrodiil, kind of disheartening that bethesda didnt go to the trouble of being consistent with their own lore, hopefully we will see one or two in Skyrim.

I don't think there were supposed to be much/any Dwemer ruins in Cyrodil.

The Dwemer lived in Morrowind and a few in the Velothi mountains bordering Skyrim and Morrowind.

One tribe, the Rourke tribe, lived in Hammerfell.

I would really like to see Bonemould in Skyrim though. Preferably just a few pieces/sets available on Dunmer in the Velothi mountains or other areas near Morrowind's border. I really liked it in Morrowind and it would just be neat to see some unique stuff near each of Skyrim's borders.

I enjoyed both games greatly. I can think of one thing I missed from Morrowind: a fast travel system that existed as part of the game world. I liked that you could only fast travel between certain points and that it cost money; being on a huge siltstrider also helped explain why it was perfectly safe.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like some people are getting hung up on specifics. I take away from this more general ideas that I whole-heartedly agree with. I'd love to see joinable Nord factions (there is talk of civil war, after all), each with their own strongholds that you can obtain or build as you advance through their ranks. I'd also like to see local armors. Maybe things like whalebone armor or baby seal fur armor or something. Things like that add flavor to the game beyond just the standard armor types like Oblivion seemed to have.

Really? Im sure i read they were more widespread then that.
Damn, its been so long since i actually read the ingame books that alot of the stories have seeped into each other.
I must rectify this.

Crossbows and Spears: You know you missed them too.

Lockpick and Speechcraft: Not really a skill when its a mini-game you get so used to you're able to pick every lock in the world with a low skill level or making people like you by clicking a spot on a wheel.

Progressing Through Factions: I liked that I had to actually level up my guy in order to progress. Oblivion's guilds just had us complete task after task in linear order.

Let me know your findings, good sir.

I believe I'm right but I may very well be wrong. It's happened before, back in 93 when I told my dad I was going to grow up to be a ninja....although you never know. There's still time.

So I suppose this may be the first time I've ever been wrong. Yay me and my infallibility.

There was also a level of intelligence when it came to combine those routes with mark and recall and intervention spells.

For instance. If I wanted to get to Suran and I was in Dagon Fel, I could recall to that place i marked previously in the azura's coast region (for situations like these), almsivi intervention to Malog Mar, and then take the silt strider over to Suran...very little mobility needed.

The whole fast travel system would be defunct though..

I havnt been through too many books yet but according the libraries 'Definitive Guide to Dwemer':
The Dwemer lived primarily in what is now called Morrowind, land of the Dark Elves. In earlier times it was called Velothi, then Dunmereth (maybe), and then Resdayn when the Dwemer and Chimer united. One tribe, the "Rourken" clan, migrated to Hammerfell around 420 First Era in self-exile.

So i must concede, you are correct my good man, i must remain in the library now and brush up on my lore.
I think you deserve a cookie :cookie:

yes, i agree with this. originally it was very specific things i wanted to see that i really enjoyed from morrowind. but after reading through this thread (which is turning out to be a great discussion btw :D), i'm realizing i just want to see more variety that is regionally specific... like you stated above. i'm also realizing more how much more detailed morrowind was in these areas with the different houses and house specific armors, etc. morrowind was such a great game! i love Oblivion, but i think Morrowind is still my favorite.

you know, i think i'd prefer a travel system more like morrowinds over the fast travel system in oblivion. it just seems more realistic, and isn't that much more of an inconvenience.

Oblivion was great but it did leave out a few things I loved about Morrowind. The ability to forget spells was great in Morrowind when i was managing my inventory. i hated holding on to weak spells in Oblivion mostly because a hated scrolling through them to find the one i wanted. I was also sad to see medium armor go but i happy with fast travel and consolidating skills (blade and blunt).

dude those are the tip of the ice burg.

try thousands of items/armors, amazing hand done dungeons, and epic quests.

This, and why do they feel the need to take out all these great things from previous games.
