Things that break your heart in FO3.

Post » Thu Jul 22, 2010 9:23 pm

Spoiler
When you get that book from the altar in Point Lookout and give it to Marcella but you find her dead. After reading her terminal she had a good heart but bit naive how the world runs and she wants to do some good whilst there are lot bad around.

And THIS

Spoiler
Upping the level cap from 20 to 30. Makes your character too much of a God. But I like the idea to make the game unending after you finish the quest which make other quest in the game unurgent but take your time doing it not like before when you get everything done before the end.

With The Pitt its all bad no matter what side you choose.

When Dogmeat dies within 5 minutes of him joining your party, due to a random Radscorpion attack. Especially sad when you're level 2 and run out of ammo halfway through the fight.

Letting a female Raider out of a cell deep in Evergreen Mills and having her attack me instead of being grateful. I had no choice but to kill her. Next time I played, I went to the same place with my Chinese Stealth Armor, killed the other Raiders, and let her out. This time I didn't shoot her, because she didn't even know I was there. So, I left her there alive. I figured she'd come to her senses later and be grateful that I didn't waste her.

There's no true good karma path for The Pitt. There are some things you can do along the way for bad karma, but you can completely avoid bad karma no matter which path you take. As such, Marie's parents usually live and Werhner usually dies in my games.

Spoiler
I second this. I too, was forced to kill Werhner, especially after hearing the tapes in the safe. I just couldn't do it.
Not to mention that Ashar isn't really bad karma, more like a neutral karma. He's trying to pull the pitt out of a ditch, and everyone hates him for it.

the pitt, if you want to be good you have to kidknap a baby

exactly why everytime i have done the Pitt i choose to side with Ashur.
Although i usually have no problems with any choices in game, and usually have evil karma, i can never bring myself to kidnap the baby
one of the few things in game i cant do

For me it's killing animals, I try to avoid them as much as possible until lvl 10.

Spoiler
Too bad I have to kill the dogs near the washington monument otherwise they'll just damage the BoS soldiers and slaves nearby

You have a problem killing the feral animals that attack you but you don't have a problem with killing humans?

When I crush Moira’s dreams. Sigh…I always miss the overly perky Moira.

When I can’t befriend the experimental ghoul…I always hate to kill him so soon after his(?) new found freedom.

I was sad when ever I had to send Fawkes back to the museum. There is no light options to get rid of him when I want to get Charon. The game makes me say GTFO I hate you and Fawkes just seems so down and depressed. :sadvaultboy:

The DC metro system. There is more than one vaguely familiar scene down there for any DC area resident. I've been here before, yet it all went wrong somehow.

Most of the hidden tapes/journals of the people that were around when the Big Day came.

It's more despair mixed with dread than fear though.

Either way, it still tugs at the strings a little.

13 if you count it from Operation Anchorage. Good thing I wasn't interested in the Fallout universe until September.

I was bummed that Sierra Petrovita's lights were on but no one was home. I had visions of taking out Ronald and moving in with her but she would have needed a 50 point IQ boost and I did not have enough mentats to pull that off.

The robot/poem that was mentioned many times

The Moonbeam tape

Bryan Wilkes losing his dad

The Keller Family Tapes

The computer in the old farmhouse with the names of all the family members

And in real life, the number of crashes and the total lack of technical help and bug solving that Bethesda has offerred.

The terminal entries at the Germantown Police HQ, very sad story of those not lucky enough to be vaporized when the bombs were dropped.

The Keller Tapes are pretty emotional.

If you are playing a Very Good Karma character the departure from Vaul 101 is pretty dreary.

One that not many people mention is the whole simulation in the MQ, the endless loop of hell for all the residents.

The slow realization that your efforts are futile that occurs in the tapes you find in the Operation Anchorage missions

The first time I did The Pitt, I went with Ashur despite my misgivings...
Spoiler
a lot of horrible killing follows the slave uprising, and you have to travel all the way back through it all. After a pretty sickening ten minutes or so, I came across the the sort-of zen/beatific slave who works right outside the door of the Mill-- the one who had a kind of beautiful attitude toward the hardships of his life-- he was dead at his station, looking like he never even had a chance to run. Made me cry.

Also the first time I let Agatha's Station play, I went in and killed all of the
Spoiler
A-hole Slavers in the Lincoln Memorial, and I paused at the top of the steps and looked out over their torn-up bodies and the dead Super Mutants-- (former humans wrecked by some heartless experiment)...
...the background music sort of put a sharp point on how senseless and awful the Wasteland could be. ugh.
