Things that made you go "What?"

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:42 am

Playing a character with very good sneak, and the Chinese stealth armour. Enclave come in in a vertibird, so I crouch down and they don't see me - but it wasn't me they were after. Immediately they run off into a building, where I here "Bang, Crunch, Boom, pew pew, bang", and see one of their heads fly back out of the building. Sneak a bit closer and I see they ran straight into a load of raider traps. Everybody inside was dead, including the raiders.

What?

Per chance, would this be across from the Arlington Library?

Oh, oh! I've had TWO instances!! And both were REALLY awkward...

The first, I was just traveling out in the Wastes, and all of a sudden...this BLACK pillar came out from NOWHERE, I mean NOWHERE, and the sky had turned a rainbowy-prism color, and the black pillar was surrounded in a red light.
I knew it was a game glitch, but the thing NEVER went away. But if I went one direction (like the way I came back) it'd disappear...but if I went the OTHER way (the way I was traveling) it'd stay there! Even in the distance, you could see the black pillar stretch endlessly up in to the sky! XDD Cr-AZY [censored] e.o

And another was in Canterbury Commons. The sky had turned red o.o
I was going "OHSHI- OBLIVION HAS INVADED THE CAPITAL WASTELAND" Of course...that would've been bloody awesome, and also terrifying XD But when I looked up a certain angle, it went back to a normal night sky o.o

I think my VERY first laughable 'what' moment, was in my first playthrough and arriving at Tenpenny Tower, the first thing I hear when I turn the corner 'YOU CAN TELL TENPENNY HE CAN KISS MY ASS'

Best first moment ever

Just today, when I was walking up the National Archives' stairs, I saw something flying through the sky. Was it a bird? Was it a plane? No! It was a flaming bus!

No joke, the thing must have been 30 to 40ft in the air, just flying ... It exploded in mid air to spectacular effect. Thankfully, I was well out of the way.

Most of the things that confuse me would be after clearing out a raider stronghold or an enclave outpost you go to loot the ammo and med kits just to find half of them locked and none of the corpses around you have a key to open the darn things.

Also had an invisible mirelurk in point lookout, had just finished the main quest walked outta the building then heard crunch and my health went down, so i turned around thinking it was a hunter just to see nothing, it said i was hidden in stealth mode but i was still being attacked, but i could still fast travel so i just went to the peir and returned to the capitol.

Can't remember what i was doing or where i was going but i did see something flying in the distance once never went to check what it was though because i was in a rush to get somewhere.

One of these days, a game company will test a game so thoroughly that it will be perfect. None of these silly glitches that ruin what would be an otherwise perfect game. I would rather designers take an extra 3 months testing before release, than release too soon with bugs and flaws. Kind of spoils things.

That is a matter of opinion most like some of these"glitches" and think they are fun sure a perfect game would be nice but why take ever glitch it leaves nothing to find nothing to have fun like ":ooo: a flying robot"

On topic:i just found a dead wastelander near german town HQ in that church south of there but thats not the "what?" moment the "what?" moment is i put him in a shopping cart cage and then you knoow what i found HIS EYEs were blinking!

Well, I'd have to say a recent one caught me, I was going to big town with sticky when I was headed to Germantown, and on the bridge you have to cross I see a caravan carrying water with a few rivet city guards, And behind them 5 or so slavers chasing them, I figured nothing of it and continued, but as I was about to reach Germantown, I figured i'd get some more guns and stock up, so I fast travel to megaton, then back to big town only to find the slavers with caravan and 2 of their buddies dead with the scavenger and the guards.

What made me go what was the caravan turned the complete opposite way and just walked away, as the slavers ran ahead, I followed only to watch them crowd around a stop sign..

One time when shooting a raider, (with the bloody mess perk) he exploded, however the head stayed hovering in air while the body exploded like it normally does. The head just hovers there with no skin and like 1/2 and eyeball, lol. I even put a placemark on it, and when I travel back to it, its still there. Happened by one of those drive-ins. CREEPY.

Not really a glitch or anything, but I saw a Scavanger with a trained Yao Guai near a Broadcast Tower.
Just... What.

Once I had just arrived outside Smith Casey's Garage and a Protection just fell out of the sky and clattered on to the ground. I wasn't sure if it was a bug, or was meant to happen. Hasn't occurred since, but was very odd. Not sure what to make of it

Could it have been a big town robot?

Killed two Talon boys on Rivet city bridge and when I came back with dear old dad the bridge re lowered the Talon boys want flying, funny. I just ran into the ghost bug in the Paradise Falls. A voice says that is "stealing" and then "thief". What the.... look around and no one alive is around. Spooky. :bolt:

From a older a similar post, I went into the Bethesda Ruins and there was a Death Claw. Wtf..left the way I came in and had to go back in two more times to check that I was not seeing things. I was not seeing things and I decided this was going to be a bad day. :)

Somewhere in the metro tunnels I came across on of those makeshift "surgical" rooms... it had plungers running up the wall and across the ceiling, bloody hand and foot prints running along with the plungers the whole way.

Its not WTF but it funny, using Savage Wasteland mod so I can use my character fist to fight, sneaked up to three raiders and they caught me, one of then threw a grenade and bounced off from my character and my charcter just kept running. The last word from that raider who threw it 'Oh @#$%'. Copped some of the blast but not enough to kill my character and fought the other two. The raider that throw that grenade lost her head.

Once I killed a Yao Guai,
And although looting it I did try,
I could not, because it went
high, high into the sky.

That last one was a biggie. The game not only forgot to load the texture for that area, but also the collision. If it werent' for my jetpack I would have been unable to get to Rivet City. Not that it mattered, the game crashed when I tried to save.

huh, that happens to me at the robot repair center.... mechanist didnt know what hit him.

ps: maybe most off topic of the most off topic off topicness, what mod are you using? most of the mods i use are always broken or something...

IS THAT A TREE??? they have been genitacly modified to fly!!!

I have an idea how it got there though. You will too if you watch Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Spoiler
Indie wanders into a testing area for an A-bomb. Its a model town blown to bits. Before the final countdown, he decides to take cover inside a fridge in one of the model houses. The whole town is blown up, but the fridge just flies off in the air and lands a mile away, unscratched. I guess they're nuke-proof. Perhaps someone watched that movie before the Nukes in Fallout went off.

Exactly, they nuked the fridge.

They aren't. They don't eat what you bring them, they use it as fertilizer for the fungus.

I was walking towards Arefu, from east to west, and had just killed a couple raiders near a ball field, when I look towards the west and see what looks like another person a little distance away. I crouched down and took a look through my scoped .45 and it looked like a wastelander standing still with his arms outstretched.

I approached cautiously and this “person” was floating about 2 ft. off the ground, arms outstretched to the sides, and motionless. I tried to talk to him, then just simply walked through him, suppressed the shiver that ran down my spine and continued on my way, with frequent glances over my shoulder.

I killed one of the cannibals in andale, as I failed the speech check, and his body streched out to be like 50 foot tall and his arm and legs were going in all funky directions. Which was a bit odd.
