After playing this weekend and spending too much time on ESO I just want to share what I feel this game misses. As usual people talk less about good things and more about bad, but anyway some criticism is needed - not bashing.
1. No random encounters
So it is theme park - and let's say it is good becuase we can face stories created by professionals. But ESO does not need to be part of most theme part game in history.
Wherever I go there is mob standing and I know it is always there. Just like in some park.
But last time look I met travelling merchant! - so it is not that game requires all to be standing in one place.
Also some bandits (very similar to PvP gankers) could be located in random places, so just when you run they suddenly attack you.
Finally all mobs could be moving more, especially deers could try to avoid people.
2. No world bosses
I think that creating world bosses migh bring more excitement to game.
How it could work: world boss is something 10 levels above the area it is in and requires approximately 40 people of zone level to defeat. Respawns randomly and walks randomly. Once per day or similar rate. Is related to achievement and gives some weapons or skins for weapons - not for questing or only side questing.
3. dropped story message papers
I do not how to name them but sometimes I found pieces of paper with some information on them. Some are just clear and describe what happens around. Some talk about hidden treassure but are so short and without any valuable information. I remember few (very little indeed) quests from Oblivion that by reading you could actually deduct where to find some small treasure.
Adding puzzles of this type would be additional fun to treasure maps.
4. Graphics
Everybody says it is great, but I checked with Skyrim and for me it looks like all textures are washed out in ESO. Skyrim has simply sharp and rich textures not to add distant terrain (not fog) and a lot of trees and grass that is missing in ESO.
But it is one thing that is just my personal impression (playing all ultra) becuase all are happy.
5. Creating a party for questig
I do not know how it was tested on PTS but it is simply incorrectly designed, so when one person wants to help other it must be possible to party or it must be clear message that they can not do this because one already completed - I do not know may be it was a goal so high levels do not help lower, but currently it is just a bug.
6. Cyrodill is very empty
It is very big land, but I feel like there is nothing - especially when I just come out of PvE area.
7. Time to get to PvP area
I just think how it will be if I will need to check what is on AH to buy something.
May be I will want to wait few minutes to get into PvP and then travel few times, but most probably I will just try to level without AH
I think that it would be better if all guild's AH are accesible directly from PvE area. In this way people who just want to buy something will not block access for others who want to play PvP.
8. AH must be on extreme demand
I simply did not feel like I need to have AH. I could do questing and level up using dropped / revarded for questing loot (till level 20).
Then simply AH will be some missing part of game that nobody needs, but is common across all other MMOs.
9. Small thing, but a little bit more ordered bag - more tabs could be used to split different types of resources
10. Fishing only for achievments - why not provisioning also.
The points discussed here - I completely do not care:
- animations - I see no problem, I do not think the characters need to jump like crazy without any sense of physics. When I compare any other game there are very little that have similar quality, most is just much worst and somehow people are playing. Animations are like graphical estethics - thay are important but do not make game win.
- broken quets - as usuall some quests are broken, those who play other MMO know it happens or are unhonest. Sure can make a noise, but it will be fixed sooner or later, so I see no problem to come back and complete quest later.
