Things that we want bethesda to check into [trailer flaws]

Post » Sun Aug 01, 2010 12:06 pm

Hi, I'm making this post after watching the trailer for the ∞th time

i noticed some of the textures were choppy on the Dovahkiin model [the armor and the strap] and also in a few other spots [the water rapids were kinda flat compared to some of the other water]

and other people have pointed out other things as well.
not that its a big deal, not that you don't ALREADY know, and i don't mean to sound critical.
i just want to have one thread for people to bring their issues, and if someone points out something you have not noticed [with your 100man staff lol] then it will indeed help you right?

oh and question. the Dovahkiin wallpaper on the website, is that the high-poly model or is that just photo-shopped for the wallpaper?

that man with bad taste in people is right though, if your finding flaws in the 3 minute trailer, dont bother buying the 50h+ game

The water rapids are pretty crap looking, tbh. But the trailer was taken on the 360, which means textures will be better on the PC, and that's all that matters to me.

Also, theres some time left in development for Beth to work on said textures.

I love the trailer it seems so real what is happening there. The only thing I would improve is the flowing water.

Everyone keeps going on about the water, good or bad, but there's one thing that seems to not be mentioned.

No reflections. Anywhere. Why are there no reflections?

They look great, tbh.

Only thing I noticed is if you watch the scene in slow motion with that enemy getting his head bashed in he bends his neck back even before getting hit?

Some posts have gone away. Whilst I don't see much point in a topic that has been discussed many times already on these forums, as long as it stays constructive and civil it can stay open.

I thought so to. The only thing that made them look bad was when people took screenshots of them, but you will never see them that way in-game. Plus they we're screenshots of a lowres (the upload quality wasn't that great) video, of a freeze framed section, from video footage of the Xbox version.

Also, to the guy talking about water reflections. I'm sure we'll get them on the regular water, but the rapids I'm pretty sure are just separate animated meshes, so they won't have the same effect applied to them. If you we're talking about another part in the video (I don't recall any parts that showed water enough to see reflections) then I would still just say it was the Xbox version. On PC in Oblivion they gave you the option for water reflections, doesn't seem like something they would take away.

i just want to have one thread for people to bring their issues

Good luck with that. If there's one thing I've learned in my time at these forums is there's little to no organization of duplicate threads on the same topic.

Posters don't care if there's already 6 threads on said topic they will just make a 7th and be on with it.

On Topic: I didn't have a problem with the trailer at all. The game looked great to me, graphics are more then fine by my standards. Particle effects and water and all that looked fine to me. I was surprised when I heard that was all from xbox360 too.

To be honest i`m more than happy with the trailer. I think what they have shown so far looks fantastic and considering thats the Xbox version, it makes even more supertastic.

I think the water looks fine for the console version, it`s more important for me that the game runs smooth on the console with the present graphics, than having mirrored water effects or whatever. meh.

I`m sure the PC version will have lovely water and all that.

I love the trailer, but there is one thing that bothers me a little bit.

When the guy is drawing his bow in first person, he doesn't have an arrow rest, so he uses his hand instead. This is fine, except that the way he is using his hand to rest the arrow is quite risky. The fletching of the arrow would catch on the tendon that attaches to his thumb, which could end up severing the tendon, thus making his hand near useless until he can get a mage to fix it.

This is just a guess, of course, but maybe its because he's using a wooden bow, a really basic bow for low level characters. Possibly there are more detailed arrow rests for higher leveled bows?

Just goes to show, game devs aren't archers. You got a picture of how it should be held in those circumstances?

This for me basically. Also it wouldn't hurt to put some canvas on for added effect :)

right before the dragon born does his shout you get a good look at his bicep and his bicep muscle is connected to the wrong region of his arm.. it is suppose to be connected to the front of the deltoid but in the picture it looks as if his bicep is connected under his arm towards his armpit which is why his arm looks all bad.. also the running water svcks everything else was sixy

How could they miss that? Is it really rotating the wrong way?
