Things I think a Hammerfell game needs to have

Post » Wed Jul 08, 2015 11:14 am

Just a personal list of things I think need to be included in a modern Hammerfell game, I'm making this because I suspect Hammerfell is going to be the next location for the elder scrolls VI, as the Redgaurd trademark has been renewed. I just think these things would be awesome.

I will say I have never played Redguard, and if these things don't already exist I still think more of these kinds of things should be added to the series and introduced to the lore of the continent, Bethesda likes to create new creatures for every release, so I think this could be fitting. I wouldn't expect a High Rock game to be restricted artistically to only having things from Daggerfall, I think they should always be free to varnish with new content and refresh old content in new ways. But blah. I'm a brat.

Anyways, here goes:

Giant black scorpions in the sand dunes that pop out of the sand

because

they're awesome

cobras/cobra inspired creatures

Representation of ancient Egyptian culture

because

where else would you put it? considering that hammerfell has the Summerset Isles just to the south, this is the perfect set up for having some king of lich half breed race of red guards and high elves that look like egyptian pharoahs with the sterotypical elongated foreheads and long noses, if you mixed the two I think they'd look like that- just a neat idea I think would be cool. The Altmer mixed with nedic peoples to create the bretons, considering Hammerfell is in between the Summerset Isles and High Rock, I think there's great oppurtunity for some ancient ruins for this society or something along those lines where the High Elves experimented with redguards like they did with the Bretons. I don't think this civilization, wherever it's put on the map should be concurrent with the 4th/5th era/ current timeline, I think it's cooler for them to be long perished, with remnants of their civilization still existent in certain secluded areas of the continent. Much like Aylied ruins in Cyrodil. Anyways just a funny idea I had. But ughhhh it would be sick for them to exploit this oppurtunity and pull something like this.

-ok just did some research on this and apperently there were in the past coastal settlements in southern Hammerfell from the first era, although none of them survived into the third era. This still presents a little room for a long lost ruin to be uncovered from beneath the sands or a sandstorm or something, so this idea could still be written in! It would be great. Do it! Bethesda! I beseech you!!!! *prays to the nine divines and uses Daedric magic to alter reality and the cosmos*

Other culture stuffs

Ethnic representation of Middle Eastern peoples in Hammerfell (Arabic, North African/Mahgreb, Indian, Persian, Anatolian, Semetic etc...)

because

Considering how much ethnic represtation western ethnicities get in elder scrolls, where European inspired cultures get represented as their own distinct races- ie norse, scandanavian, germanic in Nords, Anglo Britannic into Bretons, Romans, Greeks, French, Central Europeans Slavic(Skingrad Transylvania vampire stuffs) into Imperials, I think its unfair to take all the other races of the world, Central Asians, East Asians, North Africans, and sub Saharan Africans and simply lump them all into a single mixed race. When European cultures get all this spotlight into different races and the rest of the world's cultures are just tacked on the side in a small scaled down geographic area, it feels a little Eurocentric. Maybe that's the principle in elder scrolls as primarily its a knights/wizards medieval game, so naturally it should be that way, but for the one region of the elder scolls world where we get to see everything else, I think all of these cultures should get their fair share in their one chance where contextually it makes sense to include these cultures. Like I said, Euro cultures are separated into 3 distinct races, the redguard race is a single race, but I don't think that means they can't be ethnically diverse within their own race. Keep in mind Imperials are a mix of Greek, Roman, Latin, French, and even Asian ethnicities via the tsaeci and Akavirii. That being said I think there's plenty of room in Hammerfell to include people that look more African, along with people that look more Arabic. What I don't want is for everyone to look the same which is why I'm emphasizing this. That would be boring imho. In a single small continent that represents most of the world, I think all these other peoples should get their fair share when Euro cultures, which geographically are much smaller compared to the rest of the world, get the majority of land inhabited by humans and are subdivided into 3 distinct races. This also says nothing of including a geographic region to include sub saharan African type land with giraffes and such. Also, there's no representation of Native Amercan, or Mayan/Aztec cultures in Elder Scrolls and thats a rich palette of cultures that should be explored somewhere in the universe. Perhaps akaviir or a new undiscovered continent. I just think Mayan Temples scream elder scrolls. But blah

-end of rant-

other stuff

Middle Eastern architecture

because

common, it shouldn't look like euro settlements with gable triangular rooftops, I think I saw that in the snippet of Redgaurd gameplay I saw. Just- please. That's not right. We get enough of that in the Western inspired areas. Give us Arabic abodes pleaaassseee.

Elephants/elephant inspired mega elephants, maybe like lord of the rings olliphaunts from two towers and return of the king, they've borrowed from lotr before, these would be sick.

because

Obligation. Just kidding. XDThey shouldn't look exactly the same though, but this is just iconic we need these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Camels, or camel inspired foreigny outlandish wierd looking creatures

because

How are they supposed to trade across the Alik'r from the imperial provinces to Timbuktu? I think they have these in redguard though- they have to. But still, keep themmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of goats

because

middle eastern alternative to cattle. They should be hanging around the farms'

Middle Eastern inspired dishes/food

because

delicious

Some kind of conjuration spell/animal charming where scarabs are summoned from the ground to eat the assailant alive!!!!!!!!!!! Another one for flesh eating locusts.

because

Just ughhh awesome. Maybe aldmeri yokudan Pharoach lich kings can have this ability as well.

Mythical creatures from ancient Mesopotamian/Persian sultures ie griffins, lamassu, creatures with heads of lions and goat tails etc

like these:

They're Epic and sixY. also jewelry gems and gold pieces should be wearable as adornations to hair and beards like pictures above

Royal/Holy people should take elements of the kings pictured above lots of gems etc very lavish and sinfully expilcilicious.

because

Epic

Scantily clad bellydancers/belydancing in rituals etc

because

idk. I'm thinkin of Assassin's Creed 1 and how the imagery was just awesome. Among other things...

Bestiality

because

Fitting. Maybe some possible humor?

Hethenistic rituals involving six, bestiality, animal/human sacrifice

because

Just some really creepy stuff to spice things up. I loved how creepy these things were in Oblivion. Be nice to pull that over since middle eastern culture is filled with creepy mysticism and such.

Wonderful Middle Eastern clothing, armor, weapons.

because

I mean that's a given. It's going to have that no matter what but urghhhhhh I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and other middle eastern stuffs

because

Obivously I'm an Arabi/Semetophile.

I know right? I've never understood the association with Arabic nations and bestiality. Statistically, it's more common in America than the middle east.

Also, we have a thread of this. We dont need another.

I'm pretty sure they did...

I don't remember.

I know the Romans did it. Lots of statues depicting bestiality from classical Rome.

Here we go:

And if I'm wrong, sorry my mistake. I thought there was.
