Really? You can't join the Legion? I think you're basing your roleplaying around yourself, if you're even roleplaying at all. Create a Legionary and just kill NCR on sight, you'll always have your other characters.

Good thread! I'm pleased by the new variety of threads here :)

I could never excessively betray the NCR and I felt bad outright betrating large populations. Allthough I felt bad betrating a few indivduals here and there I couldnt betray a whole community, more because I may need them in the future for medicines and safe harbour.

There are a few of my companions I could not betray, regardless of my own selfish desires, because their own stories were so upsetting. I could never harm Ed-E or Boone and I've never understood why. The temptation to betray Boone and sell Ed-E off to the [censored] in metal were there, but I could never do it.

In the same way I read zero punctuations review and he implied he survived by killing absoultely everyone in his way. I was tempted to do that as it sounded so easy... but it did not seem so easy to kill absolutely everyone in certain villages and towns all the time,.

-Help the Powder Gangers destroy Goodsprings. Honestly, I don't don't see any pragmatic reason to assist them. If I'm playing as someone who honestly doesn't care about Goodsprings, he'd leave and stay out of the mess before ever helping destroy it. And even if I did, it still wouldn't help, because some Gangers are hostile to you no matter what.

-Spare Dean. Now, if I didn't ever meet any of the stat requirements to pass the "smart" conversation options with him, I could probably go through with it, since it would already be evident that my character is too stupid to outsmart him. But since that never really happens, I make sure to let the little weasel know that I am not his flunky. Sides...the bastard deserves a bullet between the eyes.

-Join the Legion as a woman. The men do a really bad job at selling their ideals to the opposite six. I would probably only do it if I made a really stupid female character, with like, an Intelligence of 1. But that's assuming her stupidity doesn't eventually alienate her from the Legion over the course of the game.

-Recruit Rex and not get a new brain for him. Mostly because the process of getting him involves wanting to help him.

Off the top of my head:

- Join The Kings... why would I waste my favor on that? I'd have to be RPing a lunatic *and* not care about the reward, unless there's something I'm missing.
- Side with Powders against Goodsprings... seems like a class-A jerk thing to do after being treated for free, and given gear and training.
- Face Benny in the arena. Why give the snake a fair fight? I hack him up instead, and imagine a special finishing move just for this scene (not so satisfying the way it's done, imo).
- Hire a prosttute. Total waste, you don't even get a show and I can only RP stingy characters.

Ohh, that's the only way I've done it!

I think the Legion are quite cool - I like the roman aesthetic quite a lot - but I don't respect them for a second, so I really like the idea that on my console, the only time they've ever been anything but brutally slaughtered at Hoover Dam was when they employed a woman to do their dirty work. That's good. Undermines the very bigotry they were founded on. Very subversive.

Just finished my first Legion play through, courier called Cleo - seemed apposite! Female courier forces them to question every fibre of their existence simply by virtue of existing, which I think is wonderful. A male character would risk having to go with the flow. No matter how much he disagreed with their principles, he's not head of the Legion, and would inevitably occasionally have to follow orders else. A female character would not. A female legionary would never have to take those orders, as it would be point-blank impossible for Caesar to make a coherent argument for the subjugation of women while staring into the eyes of a lady who is one of his most important agents and could have killed him ten times over by now.

A female courier would be a mountain of evidence prodding them in the face whenever they read that page in the history book. Best chance at a strong-but-civilised wasteland. As in, sans-bigotry. Not the nonsense Caesar's peddling as a civilisation.

The game's not all about reward. :ermm: Sometimes, as part of an RP, you'll take less of a reward or no reward at all to keep the PC in-character...

-Join the Legion as a woman.

I did that once. The justification for it was that she was an agent of outside party that wanted to destabilize the Mojave as much as possible. Legion, because it is easier to dismantle the Legion with few strategic assassinations than the bureocratic nightmare that is NCR :lmao:

Apart from that one time i treat the Legion as target dummies. I usually piss them off when they attack the traders near Wolfhorn Ranch.

Also aided Powder Gangers to destroy goodspring with that character. And blew up the ghouls with their rockets, none of which i've done afterwards. Just had to play one "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChaoticStupid" character to see these outcomes :lmao:

kill Rey for his brain.... poor doggy. :cryvaultboy: :sadvaultboy:
usually just fight Lupa in the arena for hers.. honorable death and she is immortal. this seemed to at least make Antony happy. he at least had respect for his dogs. Gibson just killed hers for a lump of caps.

Well, I'm sure that's one way of going about it. However, even if Caesar was not be able to make a coherent argument against the such a woman, does he really have to? If her status is flying in the face of Legionary ideals, and her behavior is proving too dangerous to his vision, there's nothing stopping him from just putting her on the cross and shutting her up for good. Not to mention a large part about the Legion's MO involves subjugating even those whom willingly serve them, a fact that becomes blatantly apparent the more you learn about them. Better hope she doesn't live long enough to "outlive her usefulness."

Kill House.

Heh, I have killed House...but I have to admit, it's surprisingly difficult when you're playing as "trying to do the right thing" type of person.

Honestly, I just try to maximize the possible rewards. I got over the phobia for making "immoral" decisions after I played my slaver character in Fallout 3. However, there are a few things I wouldn't do or wouldn't like doing:

  • Not repairing ED-E. I just can't simply leave him in Primm.
  • Join the Legion, as in actually doing their main quests. I personally like to do as many of their quests as possible before f-ing them over and helping the NCR. I'm a deceptive little bastard.
  • Take Rex as a companion. I'd rather let the King keep him, mostly cuz I believe Rex to be truly appreciated and cared for there.

As someone doing a chaotic stupid playthrough, many of mine have already been broken. Just gotta remind myself i'm playing a moronic sociopath who killed and ate Goodsprings and Primm. Say, does lonesome road have any low-INT dialog options with Ulysses? I'd LOVE to hear some of those. The only one this character won't do is join the Legion. He is truly [censored] for the NCR.

For me, Nothing is forbidden within the bounds of roleplay. That's just good roleplaying.

That said, here are some of the things almost no character decides to do:

-Conquer Goodsprings with the Powder Gangers.
-Allow Deputy Beagle to live.
-Kill Caesar.
-Fail to complete "Oh my Papa".
-Fail to complete "Volare!".
-Fail to complete "Why can't we be friends?".
-Fail to complete "One for my Baby".
-Fail to complete "Still In The Dark".
-Fail to complete "I Could Make You Care".
-Kill Colonel Hsu.
-Kill Julie Farkas.

Personally, I didn't care for Cass that much. I would much rather progress the side-quest storyline.

Plus, I usually just had Raul as my companion anyways.
