Things you wish you knew sooner

Doing jobs increases the amount of gold merchants have in that city.

Dont touch the main quest for a while.

Dont power level smithing.

Take it very slow because its easy to get bored when its all said and done.

Add to this list if you'd like.

Don't save levels. Once you enter the leveling screen, you can't exit until you're finished.

the amount of bugs this game was shipping with, and it's overall unpolished feel.

(relax, people. I like the game.)

Yea, I did a mild power-leveling of smithing and found it to be fine. I had access to top tier armor/weapons that wasn't even dropping at the time. More than compensated for my lack of armor/weapon skills. But, I was playing a warrior. I guess power-leveling smithing on a mage or a very lightly armored thief might cause trouble, but for a warrior it's fine.

Wait, why?

1) you lvl up too fast and your offense becomes gimped

2) theres no reward or feeling of satisfaction if you have the best gear in the game by lvl 20.

Instead i wish i saved smithing for 50+ when lvling rly slows down and better gear is harder to find since you pretty much have access to it all.

That said i've ruined skyrim for me. It's beyond boring now and i load up my character only to alt f4 in boredom. Dont make the mistakes i did...

That you could select individual miscellaneous quests to make markers appear.

I had so many random quests items in my inventory by the end of the game too.

its ok to power level smithing, as you need to get to 60 if you want to upgrade your enchanted gear so that its can last longer.

You can dual wield pickaxes and hit the ore veins manually to make it go faster.

There are unique gear that you can find. I found a mask that gives underwater breathing, fortify barter, and increases your carry weight.

Though I agree blacksmithing should not be so easy and cheap to level. Alchemy by comparison is more difficult to level.

You can favorite potions
You can take torches off of the walls and light people on fire with them

When in the favourites menu holding left or right on the dpad on an item will 'Hotkey' it for quick and easy use! (Just found that out today, didn't see it in the manual, but who the hell reads the manual when they have Skyrim in their ps3?!)

I thought that item was usually a glass helmet hidden under water... or was it a different one...

I want to add:

Do not use any gear or potion that increases your blacksmithing, enchanting and alchemy, and then make items. Using them will result in overpowered gear that ruins the immersion.

Always look for the magic flammable liquid when sneaking into a room, and use it (unless you really want the added challenge).
