I think bethesda made a oops THREAD #3

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:37 am

I only have a badly pixellated picture to go by so it's hard to tell what it is.

As a guess I think it is a dragon priest since they were prominent in the demo and just by looking at all of those screenshots I get the impression that they related to the story the watched.

This image might have been left out when the others were released. (And how many others?)

It looks like some sort of a vampire.

Maybe it's like an ice vampire patriarch or something?

Although, the dragon priest sounds pretty legit. I just don't know.

I have deleted posts accusing other members of trolling and responses to that accusation. That is against our rules and warning worthy. Don't do it. :toughninja:

Anyway... I still say Lich is a strong possibility, notice the grey hair and netherworld look of the creature.

You are trolling.

Be nice or Summer will close the thread and we're back to talking about underwear.

See, what did I say? :)

I vote Ice Vampire. The "hair" and ears certainly look like the concept art. The only distinction being the face isn't as humanoid as the concept art.

My vote is definitely for vampire of some sort. Looking at the nose, the first thing I though of was a bat (http://www.rakerace.com/uploads/images/vampirebat.jpg). Also the long ears are reminicent of certain bat species as well (although in a world full of elves that isn't much of a factor). Not to mention the pale skin which is also typical of vampires.

I'm crossing my fingers, I hated the old ugly wrinkly vampires in oblivion.

Wow I made an educated suggestion based on details of the picture and it was buried under a MOUNTAIN of other posts before anyone could read it.

So again,

The helmet has parts shaped as crab/lobster pincers/claws and the rest of the armor reminds me of an uncolored seashell or coral reef.

The second picture, while not sharing the same sea theme as the armor, still leads me in the same direction. The wizened skin and white hair makes me think, knowledge/wisdom/experience.

What is that direction? Hermaeus Mora!

So I say it's a new Daedra tied to Lord Hermaeus Mora.

Also if you think about it Hermaeus Mora fills the bill perfectly for a Daedric Lord that would be prominently worshiped in Skyrim, especially because of the mood of the game, rich with history, darker, grimmer, but not full out evil like Molag Bal or uncanny like Sheogorath.

Okay, something else to discuss:

Why does his mask cover his eyes? That tells me he's blind. Honestly I can't tell if the mask-less image has his eyes open or closed, but if they're open the milky look tells me he's blind too.

Random thought: If he's a Falmer, and they've been hiding underground for centuries, they may have lost their sight.

Vsions!!!!!! Don't make us beg.

('Course we will if it will work . . .)

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8613775/Skyrim/Secret%20Thumbs/thumb2_720.jpg . . . it looks as if (1) it has no eyes or the skin has grown over it's eyes, (2) there is something hanging around it's neck, and (2) there are tuffs of hair coming off the ears.

Oh great, now we have two open threads on this. When this one closes, we use that other one until it's full. Only one thread for this mess at a time please folks and that is more than a moderator can keep up with. :swear:

Rough night summer? Are there any on-call moderators who could step up and help this torrent of threads and posts? It seems so unnaturally busy tonight and you seem overworked. I sympathize

I'm still betting on Falmer. That's really the one conclusion I can come to, because all other possibilities seem too unlikely. However, out of all of this conjecture, there always remains the possibility that this is just something we don't know, and we won't know until it's announced. It's not like Bethesda lacks the ability to make up new creatures. If we were still in the Morrowind days and Oblivion was drawing closer, and we saw pictures of things like the Land Dreugh or Ogre, would we be able to immediately identify what they were without prior knowledge?

This could be just about anything, except for things that already exist that just don't fit.

Good point. There is also various things about blind vampires that sense people by blood, perhaps its a blind vampire? Or maybe its just a Lich who is so old he has no eyes...

I don't trust the falmer theory due to the pointy ears. Simple enough.

Definitely.

Regardless of what it is, I think the eye thing confirms it's the same critter.

@Zurin: what's wrong with pointy ears? Falmer are mer. The maskless image even looks like there's fur on the ears, which would be right at home on a mer originating from Skyrim.

To tell the truth, the background to the first image looks to be underground as well. or atleast a cave.

Has anyone mentioned the possibility that it's wearing some kind of scorpion armor? That kind of mixes the lobster and spider theories.

Lots of eyes + Claws = Scorpion
