I think bethesda made a oops THREAD #3

I'm going with Falmer = Ice Vampire.

I also don't really put much stock in arguments about the colour of the creature. Those claims are hostage to the white point on one's display; on different displays it will appear more or less greenish or whatever.

Im starting to think that its looking a little too bit earthly-fleshy to be an atronach anyways. Atronachs in oblivion were very pure-fantasy elementalist creatures that usually had a powerful colorscheme depending on their ability.

Thats my point, it would be completely different from the ones in Oblivion.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like a Lich or a Vampire.

There were way more atronachs before oblivion. Check Uesp.net for more info

OK, here is where we are at this point in our speculation:

leading theories proposed by only one person [possible]
- falmer

less likely theories proposed by only one person [possible]
- Dragon Priest
- Deathclaw
- wood elf
- ice vampire
- orc's grandmother
- Dwemer
- Atronach

theories espoused by several people [ruled out]
- no Argonian
- no goblin
- no "spider hero"
- no scamp

Any more?

a couple ideas why Falmer might be possible, despite the fact that his skin is not blue - I could be wrong - your thoughts?

  • Skin color can change, to accomodate cool new character designs. The skin color of the Orcs has changed significantly IMO.
  • todd specifically mentioned that the beauty of all the lore books is that they can be wrong.
  • ears look somewhate elvenish, and Falmer were a race of elves. If Draugr can be undead Nord warriors, maybe this thing is some kind of undead Falmer warrrior.
  • if that scary woman concept art from the Behind the Scenes video was an Ice Vampire, then this guy is not likely to be an Ice Vampire

Lich seems kind of godly though. They were always dressed similarly to priests, and used magic. This seems to be fairly hunched over/creature-like and the armor suggests melee battle. Id leane towards vampire-falmer.

Yes, really. Do you know for a fact they don't share the same name?

Here's something interesting you can do. Go to Google. Type in any word. Hit Search. Click on Images at the top. Does only one picture appear?

Think before you post.

Do you really think the guys at Bethesda are so stupid to not be able to think of a different name for two distinctly different screenshots? How about you think before you post.

It was obviously not intended to be called spider hero.

I seriously hope Bethesda has a better naming convention than the only relied upon by Google and millions of internet websites.

It's not Spider Hero.

When i look at that original pic I still don't get Vampire. The armor looks too otherworldly. Vampires were once mer or humans so i would expect something more humanoid or btraditional beast-like.

True. But did you ever think that the odds of finding two pictures with the same name on EVERY PART OF THE INTERNET REACHABLE BY GOOGLE is a lot higher than finding two images with the same name on the same website by a single company?

Think harder before you post.

It was a joke.

Oh and that "Falmer" picture from the UESP? Yeah, we actually don't know if it is really a Falmer, but its the best guess.

"Finally, it is theorized by some that the strange race known as Ice Warriors, found in the icy caves of Glacier Crawl may be the last remnants of the lost race of Falmer. These beings are uncommunicative with outsiders, but are icy blue skinned humanoids, with features somewhat between Elven and Orcish."

What do you think, does the screen match this concept art?

The ears in the concept art don't look very pointy, IMO, and the face looks more human.

Alright new theory, going off the rails here.

If you look closely his helmet has parts that look like crab or lobster claws, and the armor's shape and style reminds me of shells and coral reefs minus the color.

The second picture with the wizened, unarmored version of the same creature/person makes me think that the thing is a Daedra of wisdom or knowledge.

Sooo..... I say it just might be a new Daedra assigned to Lord Hermaeus Mora!

Vsions did say he would be back for the third thread...

if there's truth to that maybe he'll give us a hint.

And i bet he didn't expect the second thread to fill up so fast
