I think my character may be a ghost...

My character has no body meshes at all, yet all NPCs have them.

This is the result of a reinstall... It's a long and messed up story,
To keep it short...
I made the mistake of installing a second copy of Oblivion. This made sh... hit the fan. Nothing worked at this point, so I spent 3 days on a wild goose chase uninstalling and reinstalling, cleaning the registry... all of that nonsense.
I finally got it working yesterday, so I copied over the meshes and textures and all that other required stuff for my saves. Appears to be fine until I see my character's face is missing... Ok, so I tried to change my clothes, but they wouldn't change! They were also stacking on top of one another, as seen above. (None of them equipped, by the way.)

Weird stuff is going on man.

Does anyone have a clue about what's going on here?

(With everything taken off, I am invisible upon first loading a save.)

That is a neat trick  I hate to say it, but I think at this point you had best not become too attached to your character. Always post your Load Order, but since we're dealing with over-writing and possibly corrupted meshes & textures, that won't help much. Are you using any body mods? If yes, go through the folders with a fine-toothed comb and make sure to remove every piece of said mods. If not, you can try reinstalling the BSAs. But with a modded game, that may cause even more problems.

If all else fails, copy the saves so you can at least import your character after you wipe everything and do a proper reinstall. Sorry mate

I think that weye bash has a save fixing option in it.

from the tesivpositive site.

Updating and Repairing Saves

?Clean save: see above
?Repair factions: Right-click on the save in Wrye Bash and choose the command from the list of options.
?Repair save file bloat: Right-click on the save in Wrye Bash and choose the command from the list of options.
?Update NPC Levels: Right-click on the save in Wrye Bash and choose the command from the list of options.

?Respawn cells: Move at least two cells away and wait out the cell respawn time (default 72 in game hours) to refresh cells' contents.

no guarantee.
I have not tried this myself. good fortune with this!

I had this happen once when the third person animation kicked in. Basically I got knocked off my horse by a powerful spell and the game went into third person animation mode that showed my PC getting knocked off the horse. It was very cool, but I was invisible afterwards. Fortunately for me, saving and reloading fixed the problem. I've heard of this happening from time-to-time and usually the save and reload fixes it. There are mods that attempt to replicate this effect - if you are using one of them, disable the mod and do a clean save without it. Then reload the mod - this might fix it. I think Deadly Reflex is an example of a mod that does this, but I can't say for sure. If you are using DR, you might try the new version.

Are you using a custom race (i.e. not one of the original 10)? If so, NPCs wouldn't be affected if the mesh data all got lost, so that's the first thing I'd investigate.

If it's a standard Tamrielic race, no clue.
