It's not something that I would care about but if they wanted to put it in, it would be okay.

As far as I know most FPS games dont even have real bullets, I mean that because they're hitscan weapons. As soon as the game realizes you fired your gun, it creates a line between you and an object that will block the bullet, if there's an hitbox of something that can be damaged it will be damaged, and then a bullet will appear to make it more realistic. Actually, many games don't even have bullets that come out of the gun but particles instead.
Out of curiosity I did some googling, and here's the http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php?title=Projectile in Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
So for the last two games, Bethesda used a mix of hitscan and projectile type weapons, depending on the weapon. There's also a setting for gravity, so I guess that means they did have bullet drop. But I don't think there are any mechanics for wind to affect the direction of a bullet. Also keep in mind that's information for weapons in the last Fallout games, and may not apply for 4; but it's a good start.
Ah yes thanks for reminding me. Yes Bethesda Game Studios did say they got shared some of the combat mechanics from iD Software.
I don't see it as a possibiity, especially given other weapons in the game like lasers that presumably would not suffer the same level of knowledge required.
However I DO think moddability to provide that would be nice.
WOW! Ignore this comment. I just realize I responded to the wrong topic and comment.
There was bullet drop for some guns in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, though. I don't know how heavily it was used, but there's a gravity setting for projectiles that determines how much it's affected by gravity. For non-hitscan projectiles, anyway.
No thanks! It would probably just be more frustrating than anything... although there were few things more satisfying in Skyrim than a perfectly arcing head shot from a ridiculous distance. In Fallout I could just switch to laser and bypass the whole mechanic. Certain shooter mechanics might be a nice addition to the real-time combat in Fallout, but too much and it would just be tedious.
QFT. It has to be easy, else the masses won't play it.
You're both wrong:

If the mechanics are already mostly there (gravity as some have mentioned) I don't see it being a bad thing. I just wouldn't want any extra added effort to go into something I'll only see/notice every so often
No bullet drop please. If I'm shooting from that far away I'd like to assume my PC knows to adjust the sights or scope accordingly. With the adjustment made, bullet drop isn't a factor.
If they DO allow for bullet drop then they are going to have to allow us to adjust our sights and scope manually for it so we can account for it. Just having to aim a foot above the target because we know the bullet will drop is just stupid both in game and RL.
Sounds like even most shooters don't use this, so it would be surprising if Bethesda included it. I also don't see how it improves gameplay.
Nah I didn't come across right - I wasn't calling you an elitist, it's just that most metal heads I know would go "Pfft, they're not real metal" and I was making fun of that attitude. I try not to judge musical tastes.
No I do not want bullet drop.. It's hard enough for me to shoot things as it is.
-edit-
I'm sorry Beth I love you to death but I honestly don't see the type of sophisticated wind devices that would be needed , in one of your games.
if this type of thing was actually in the game, for me to shoot anything .. ever.. I might as well put my money somewhere else right now.
Bullet drop on snipers is fine, but screw wind affecting it.
Here's a article pcgamer.com wrote 6 hours ago talking about combat in Fallout 4 and iD Software sharing combat gameplay mechanic tips.

Here's a YouTube video of Todd Howard explaining it.

There is no talk about bullet drops though.
I kind of wonder if enemies will even load in at the distances that would need to be involved.
There's a mod for New Vegas that adds bullet drop (no windage, though) to all projectile weapons. I use it and love it, but yeah, most of the time you're at such close quarters that even semi-realistic bullet drop is a non-issue. Shooting at a human-sized target at the very limits of visible range, you had to aim an inch or two above the target's head (as in "aim for the top of their hat", not "aim an inch higher on your monitor").
