to answer the OP

looking at all the data available and looking at the trend in game development the answer is no

will it be the best interactice game movie probaboy

as far i am concerned and with the information we have this is just going to be another narrative driven story where you as a player only need to shoot things and enjoy a endless parade of cutscenes

no need to use your imagination or any problem solving bethesda already done that for you by making a game specially designed so no person need to torture their braincells with problem solving nor the need to use some imagination

it is how games are designed these days

See, comparing this to Fallout 1 or 2 is like comparing apples and oranges. Will it be better than F3 or New Vegas? Not a doubt in my mind.

well you probably won't like fallout 4 much then, because its gonna be a bethesda fallout game not a "black isle/obsidian" fallout game, well i suggest you just pass on fallout 4 and keep playing NV.

If I wanted to use my brain I would go to law shool or buy puzzles at the store. Fallout is meant to be a good story game with ample gear, loot, and exploring. Mindlessly killing enemies and building a character is the premise. Who wants to get home from a 10 hour work day and use a bunch of problem solving... Not I good sir. To each thier own though. You will have to use some problem solving when a deathclaw family starts coming at you.

Considering that Fallout 4 isn't even a Fallout game I don't see how it could be the best one in the series.

Depending on how it ends up though it may very well be the best Bethesda game to date.

But other than that it isn't going to "best" anything.

Since this is subjective for me I think it's hard to pull off, New Vegas got a lot of things right. If they can have the same level of writing as NV then yes. A lot of what I've seen so far I really like but we still don't know much about the story and characters quality.

You know "best" is subjective, right?

It could be the best spin-off though! :D

I loved the big impact you had in fallout 3, that big supply of a water you could bring to people and with the projects success could potentially save the worlds population and not just a small region of a continent.

So Fallout 3 was the best story wise for my part, did it lack somethings that NV had yes in certain area's it did, did Fallout New Vegas bring new stuff to the table yes it did, but the different endings focused on that small region of the continent, the factions you beat just moved out of the area and licked their wounds or in case of the legion they sort of feel apart and went back to just being criminals if i recall correctly.

Fallout 1 and 2 had a lot of good stuff as well, only issue i had with fallout 1 was the time constraints you had with getting the water chip.

And since we only have the current clips to compare Fallout 4 to the earlier games would not instantly give it the best of all title with out actually knowing anything about the story arch.

Looks great from the video's and you will by the information given at this time have a lot of options and things to do in the wasteland.

You know whats funny the water of life project was suppose to purify all the water in fallout 3, but it didn't and that was what made it seem weird.

I hope so. Unlike movies where sequels are usually worse than the first one, game companies do regularly produce sequels that are better than the previous ones (not counting FIFA or similar games), and Bethesda is a prime example of such a company.

I learned to reserve judgment until I actually played the game. Civ1 & 2 were the games that made me fall in love with gaming, so I followed Civ3 obsessively. To this day I can't remember a bigger disappointment. Oblivion? Uninstalled it after a week and never looked back.

Yet despite the terrible disappointments of civ3 and Oblivion, Bethesda and Firaxis have also produced my all time favorite games.

TLDR: a studio is capable of producing your highest gaming highs and lowest gaming lows. You'll never know ahead of time

hopefully. I think it will play the best out of all the fallouts, the effort they've put into improving controls should see to that. I also think that the story will be better than fallout 3's, actually the main quest might be the best of all the fallouts, although we won't know that until the game actually comes out.

I could see this devolving into a NV vs. Fallout 3 war, but things have been civil so far and the thread is on page 2!

It would be really surprised if it ended up being my favorite Fallout game. I imagine it will be similar to Fallout 3 in that I consider it a great game but not a great Fallout game. Fallout 3 was actually enjoyable when I played it and I am sure I will have a lot of fun playing Fallout 4.

Maybe it will be the best game Bethesda has ever made, I certainly liked Fallout 3 more than any TES game they've produced save Morrowind, but I didn't think Fallout 3 captured the spirit of the franchise due to its TES-centric design philosophies. Will the same be true here? I honestly couldn't give an educated opinion based on what little we know, but I find it unlikely that Bethesda decided to try and make a product that prioritized the design philosophies of Fallout over those of TES like New Vegas did. I think it's more likely that much like with Fallout 3 they stuck to what they knew. At the moment I don't think I will end up considering it the best Fallout game, but that's based more on my experience with Fallout 3 than Fallout 4.

Actually, it was supposed to purify the water that's in the Basin. Not everywhere.

I don't like to use the word 'best' Fallout but I will say that I liked Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas for different reasons. I enjoyed them both immensely and played them a lot.

I am really looking forward to Fallout 4. Why? Exploration, collecting, crafting, settlements, improved companions, trading, improved power armor, improved Dogmeat, synths, MIT, travel by vertibird, new perks and most of all the super-secret story they are keeping tightly under wraps. Did I forget anything? FO4 looks to be one of the best, if not the best, games of 2015.

As a numbered game, by the company of ownership, that qualifies it as a part of the primary series, whereas New Vegas was a spin-off by a secondary company. What defines a spinoff is not personal opinion or like or dislike, but by simple technicalities. New Vegas was fun, but it was a spin-off.

To topic...I feel Fallout 4 will be very enjoyable, and many hours will be spent playing it.

Really? So when something spins off the core series into a different sub-genre, it's less of a spin-off than something that tries to keep true to its predecessors?

Let's see...

I don't see any mention of brand ownership, do you?

It's called Fallout 4. It's part of the core series. It's not a spinnoff. That's what I'm saying.

No one calls Return of the Jedi a Spinnoff of The Empire Strikes Back. Or God of War 2 a spinnoff of God of War. Or even Fallout 2 a spinnoff of Fallout 1. When it's part of the core series, it's called a Sequel of the series.

Yeah, well...I loved Fallout:3. NV...not so much. To me it was too linear. It felt like I was being herded down a certain path which it was near mandatory to follow. I think I'm not alone in liking FO:3 much more than NV. I do agree with your statement, "a lot of people agree that NV was a better game than FO:3" though I think the reverse is also true. How wonderful that we don't all like the same things. Different tastes broaden our horizons and opens our minds to rejoicing in our differences instead of fostering anger because of them.

As far as what I think FO:4 will be, I hope it will be a newer and better FO:3 with improved graphics, a different and exciting story, new ideas and huge in the size and an open world game. I have high hopes. But one never knows how they will feel about something until after they do it.
