You're not alone. I have a box of beer caps. I just can't help but think would they be used as money in Fallout or is it only caps from soda bottles?

Nah, once you start collecting bobble heads, snowglobes and build a bomb shelter in the back perhaps then but for a couple of caps I wouldn't say so.
Only reason bottlecaps became so influential was because of the Water Caravans taking control of the market with their currency, and seeing as I live in Sweden, where we have tons of water all around and since we wouldn't exactly be a priority target in a nuclear war, I have no reason to collect them. ;)

Just the OP's luck, that our Post Apocalyptic Currency would be the Spin Offs from Boone's Farm or Thunderbird bottles.

Over here beer itself would be the currency...

So if in Britain due your patriotic duty and save that beer..

Edit: I just remembered in history workers have had a portion of their wages paid in alchohol over here.
Due to poor water, harsh working conditions and disease, so I may be right on this after an atomic / biological war destroys all society and pollutes the water.

I don't get why beer caps don't count in Fallout. Nuka Cola and Sunset gives you caps but beer does not. I hope that is fixed in FO4 or a New Vegas DLC.

Up until the advent of modern sewage systems, the only safe water to drink in towns and cities was Beer. However it was not very high in alcohol, being a "green" beer that is not set to ferment for very long. Only long enough to get enough alcohol content to kill most of the pathogens. People were not getting drunk at lunch in the middle ages.

I know, but thanks for explaining it better CCNA.

I was also refering to sailors rations, mine workers and Knavy's that made up some pay in drink or to bolster moral, and stave of sickness.
All suplied even in Victorian england, plus brewers up untill recently used to give a tipple during lunch or breaks.

And to expand... Beer might have been all they had to eat at lunch. the ale of the day would probably choke a horse of today. I understand it was closer to a barley stew.

Presumably because the beer is not pre-war, and the bottles are plugged with something other than caps.

The beer in FO3 and New Vegas look like they have caps to me. Even beers in the originals look like they have caps.

Twinkies do not last forever. It is an urban myth. They last a few months before going stale and inedible. :sadvaultboy:

And OT, I have a bent bottlecap I can't get rid of. Wife tried to throw it away, but I wouldn't let her. No way! My bottlecap!

Well... We're venturing into opinion here, but from my experience they become stale and inedible about the time they arrive on the store shelf. they remain pretty much unchanged from that point on

However i used to work for ITT Continental at the factory in Detroit where they made those (and Ding Dongs—before they changed the name.) After eating them warm from the line I can tell you that for a short time (a very short time) they are actually quite good.
