I think..I made a boo boo. No sound via TV from HDMI

Post » Wed May 14, 2014 9:56 pm

So I've used my laptop for Hulu/Netflix and just hooked it up to the 50 inch for a smooth ride for years..but last night, while drunk, I accidentally deleted something because I was, well, drunk, and I was rummaging through my sound settings because I didn't like the way it sounded..because..I was drunk..

So, I think I may have deleted a driver or something that enables sound via HDMI hooked up to the TV, because it's not even listed there, and I remember seeing something like that before, and no sound will come out, it just comes out through my laptop now.

What do I do?

Just a thought (Windows 8.1);

Go into control panel, hardware and sound, sound, open playback tab, and enable HDMI connection, set as default. If the output doesn't show in the window, then right-click, "show disabled devices".

Depending on the laptop, you may have to restart with settings saved, and devices connected.

I'm on Windows 8.1, and the only thing in that window of playback is the default laptop speaker, and there is no tab that says "show disabled devices" anywhere. :(

EDIT

Nevermind, when I right clicked in the tab it opened up another window with that option, and it showed the HDMI input, and it was disabled completely. :) Thanks for the help.
