Think I messed up in Fallout 1

OK, I don't know what I did wrong and I can't really be arsed to start again....

A brief synopsis of my game so far...

Left the vault (killed some rats)
Went to Vault 15 (Need a rope)
Went to Shady Sands and bought a rope
Back to Vault 15 (killed more rats)
Back to Shady Sands, hired Ian and wiped out the Radscorpions
Back to Shady Sands found out some tart had been kidnapped, rescued her from the Khan bandits (Took a mentab to boost my intelligence and "buy" her rather than fight)
Went to the Hub (couldn't be arsed to wait around for the right day to join a caravan)
Found out that Necropolis might have the Water Chip!
Went to Necropolis and after much aggro and ghoul slaying (why are some of the ghouls referred to as men in my kill stats?) fixed the water pump and got the water chip (somehow managed to sneak past Gary the Supermutant in the dark)
Went back to Vault 13 and told the old git I had the chip
Got told to find and destroy the supermutants base (Fat chance!)

The comes the problem.....As soon as I visit Junktown I get attacked by the entire town even though I've never been there before! WTF!?

Weird.

There isnt anything essential in junktown (except McGyver). Just push on to the BOS and do their quest.

Went to the Brotherhood and was asked to "get" something from the glow.

Went to the glow and got radiated but I can't "give" this to the Brotherhood guy.

Since the Glow is just a big hole in the ground what am I supposed to "get" and "give"?

Once you have it, you will get the appropriate speech options.

Remember to use it first for an extra 100xp.

You?ll need a rope there too to climb down the hole.

edit:
Just to be sure. Take 2 RadX before climbing down and at least one Radaway before leaving the glow area.

Went there with my rope.... didn't get a change of cursor showing I could use the rope. Maybe my character is a retard - I forgot to give him a name, LOL

Theres a beam standing out, right click on it and select your backpack, then the rope.

ok.. so i happened to go scout out the millitary base and kill the out side guards, picked up the disk with the code.. forgot to read the code, went to the cathedral, got my last npc killed.. who was holding the disk and disapeared with all my stuff after i went into the basemant.. then i blew it up.. and now no code to get into millitary base.. is there anything i could do or did my game go up :nuke: with the church.. and i have to start over?

No, the door can be lockpicked. Electronic lockpicks will make it easier.

Ok, so I got into the military base with help from the paladins....shame they don't come inside the base with me so I have more than a snowball's chance in hell of taking out the mutants :(


As a side note, I went back to Necropolis after taking the water chip to the vault and the place was overrun with supermutants...???

you dont have to go to the glow at all go to the hub do the quest for the thives get the electic lockpick go back to the base use it on the door they wont stop you then every one in the base treats you like you are in.

Whilst it is true that the glow is optional... Considering whats on level 5, you're a fool if you miss it.

How does the lift in the glow work? I only get electric shocks off it :(

You need the (correct) coloured Keycards for the first lift (1,2,3) and the second lift (3,4,6). The High security left (4,5,6) needs the power turned on as well (which means you must repair the generator, and convince Zax to turn it on).

The colour you need is coloured on the lift.

Been to all locations, at least been to all the places tabbed on the map, and no more keys to be found...

Who is Zax?

An AI in the glow.

You can also disarm the trap on the door with a high trap skill, and unlock the door with a high lockpick skill (you can unlock without disarming the trap, but you get zapped every time).
