So Sony have made the PS3 able to install an operating system on the machine. Linux is the only OS that can be install legally, so this means that installing windows (if possible) will be against the rules.

So in theory, this will make the ps3 able to run oblivion with mods right? Havent tried it but ive seen videos with a ps3 with linux, and it runs completely like a pc, but it should be able to download mods from the internet and run on ps3 like a real pc.

Could work but I very very much doubt it, and if it did work it certainly wouldnt work with the PS3 copy of the game. Maybe a D2D copy at a stretch but i still really really doubt it, there will be something put in place that stops Mods and external expansions and plugins from being downloaded and installed to stop people using Torrented DLCs for their games etc.

You can try,but if you're successful your PS3 will self-destruct and Sony will eat your first born child.

The video you linked is from May, so not all that recent, I'm sure if it made modded Oblivion possible we'd have heard some active pvssyr about it by now. :shrug:

Maybe if you got a copy of oblivion pc version and install it on a ps3 with a os it could work? Otherwise, I just wanted to see it myself before purchase a ps3

I'm 99% positive Sony removed the ability to install Linux on the new PS3s.

No it wouldn't work. The processor in the ps3 is different to the one in the pc so they don't speak the same language.

The ps3 version won't work either because you would have to bypass the copy protection which is illegal in many countries and linux running on the ps3 doesn't have access to any accelerated graphics.

Anyway talking about ways to get user mods running on the ps3 or the xbox360 are subjects not to be discussed on this board so this will be getting a lock pretty soon.

p.s. ghoulsrpeople2 is right the ps3 slim doesn't allow you to install linux.

Regardless, it is against Sony's EULA to do this. Thus it is not allowed discussion on this forum.
