Think this will be on linux?

Well I'm a linux user, and I was wondering if they were going to have this on linux too. I mean I'm not bothered by using wine to play oblivion, but it would be nice to have it native to linux.

I highly doubt that.

If you know what you're doing you can make it be on linux.

And if you don't know how you probably shouldn't be using linux.

Unfortunately, Microsoft would never let that happen. Just as they do with game exclusives, they'd pay oh so much money to a game developer not to do that. Just imagine a game that can be coded to work directly with the kernel on a platform that's free, which offers free tools/applications for everything, not affected by viruses.... excuse me, I need a moment :)

.. and before anyone does an internet search on "linux viruses", make sure you know the difference between a virus, a worm, and a full hack.

That's an affirmative no. The game will most likely be using the DirectX API, which will save some resources for the 360 port. Not only would they have to port it to Linux they'd have to change the API to OpenGl, for a market that's hardly worth it. Such are the harsh realities of business.

PS3 doesn't use DirectX. In fact, one of the available graphics APIs is OpenGL ES. Plus, OpenGL would get them OSX support, too.

Making it work and having a proper port are two vastly different things. Sure, eventually Wine and the like will be able to run it, but it won't be as good.. it typically needs beefier hardware to get similar performance than on Windows, there's usually configuration issues that need tweaking, and it usually takes some time for Wine to get it working right. Having a proper Linux port out of the gate would be a much better solution.

There will definately be no official Linux version. It's rare for there to be even a Mac/PC combo, let alone a PC/XBox/PS3/Linux. Just not happening, sorry  .

And why is that?

Looking at past releases, the answer is pretty clearly "Not gonna happen."
