I think Todd Howard is a celebrity.

I don't like Todd Howard. I don't trust a thing he says, he's lied through his teeth too many times, he's lost credibility with me.

(Then again, Rohugh is on there too :P)

Ibeat him apparently. He asked pretty generic questions, that time, though. Came up with Will Right and 2 other guys I didn't know, and asked 40 questions. Closest he got was "Does your character have something to do with dragons?".

No, he's not a celebrity. He just happens to be the spokesman of a gamecompany called gamesas and he's good at that. I doubt that even 0.001% percent from the people I know in RL knows who Todd Howard is.

"Hey, did you see that interview with Todd Howard?"
"What?"
"Todd Howard!"
"It's Ron Howard..."
"No, I didn't say Ron Howard, I said Todd Howard..."
"Who?"
"The guy from The Elder Scrolls!"
"What?"

Anyway, I don't think game developers are celebrities. Their creations however can reach celebrity status. Anybody knows who Shigeru Miyamoto is without using Google?

The lead game developer is more a four letter word to me than a celebrity. If he is a celebrity, then the names Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Barry Bonds come in to mind as complementaries. The generalization of why fans raise stats and the continued minimization of character development in favor of action mechanics in the TES series casts a ominous cloud over the future of the RPG genre. All that said, it is He Who Should Not Be Named's world with Skyrim, and I am just a player.

He's definitely a celebrity in certain circles. In those circle, more people know about him than know about me. I'm the example of not a celebrity. :)

That being said, him being the original mind behind TES or not, he is now because he's the one pushing the TES project and I'm along for that ride with the vision as it is now for as long as it lasts or I die.

And yes, it's the hair. :D Great that he's not afraid to grow some. lol

Todd did not create the Elder Scrolls. He only made it better.

Eh... I think it's the other employee's and their hard work that did that. It could also be argued that it got worse in some way because of him.

There's no i in team and it's definitely a team that makes TES with Todd at the helm. I don't know the reason some people wouldn't want to give Todd credit though. He clearly gives lots of credit to the entire team so I'm confused by the sour graqes when it comes to his name and some negative sigs.

Since I'm a fan though, he must be a celebrity of some kind. :D

Have a great Sunday all...and a happy Mother's day to all the mothers.

Todds the voice, the only one that you hear the most, it is not like sweeping game changes are based soley on his whim, its a freaking company and it seems people forget this. Todd never implies that he's larger than life or the sole reason why we are getting a TES game, if you listen to his interviews and talks when discussing the game, he always uses -WE-.

Hey forum people, I'm the official forum pervert, and I couldn't help but notice how I started to think of Todd Howard as a sort of celebrity. It might have something to do with
the fact that like most fans I've been pressing my face onto the screen watching interviews and trailers countless times, but don't you think Todd is becoming a sort of celebrity
entity in the Elder Scrolls community?

I love the guy-not in a horny way-but as a person.

I know this is sorta off topic.

Todd seems like hes pretty tied up in the NDA. He can only say the same thing a different way for each interview. He has his lines down better than any actor I know of.

That goes without saying. I wasn't implying that Todd made all the games by himself.

Ever since Todd Howard became game director/leader/producer of Elder Scrolls, the series became more unique and less cliche. A game director has a certain vision and he communicates that to the rest of the team.

Um.....alright without bias.

Didn't Todd say they drew their influence from Lotr for Oblivion?...and did he not say He drew influences from Age of Conan for Skyrim....how is that unique and not cliche?

All you have to do is look at the first two games, then compare them to Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim as a whole.

Arena - (lotr I believe todd said...sketchy, I don't think Todd was even there for Arena)

Daggerfall ( don't know but assembling a massive demi god and creating a massive Time clusterfuzz altering the Land is pretty unique to me )

Morrowind ( not sure, but atm I don't see the cliche in being planted in a society to spy whats going on and pretending to be the chosen, and then finding out you -are- the chosen one is far from cliche for its time, now its nearly everywhere <3 Camorans Avatar for example)

Oblivion (Lotr influences - you -are- the chosen one, the emperor tells you this, your the hero plain and simple, your not even given a solid background to your thoughts on the matter....Cliche)

Skyrim (age of conan influences - not played, but once again you are the chosen one, the world will fall without you and your existence is prophesized.....not cliche? )

again haven't played Skyrim, just making sure there is a counter point to statements made.

Morrowind like, borrowed from Dune, Star Wars and D&D for inspiration. It was a hodgepodge. :P

I'm pretty sure all of these type games use whatever Legend they want to use so NO game is unique. It's all been written before and even Tolkien borrow from legend. That's fine by me as long as they are different from each other story-wise.

And yes, Todd is still a celebrity...with great hair. :D
