Thinking About Doing the Unthinkable

Post » Thu Sep 19, 2013 11:37 pm

Thinking of playing a.......ugh....."good" character. For those of you that know me you know I'm into evil RP'ing and builds. I was thinking of doing a good character for my next playthrough. Just for the simple fact that I never do them, change it up once or twice. I always use conjuration, always play as a vamp and am always looking out for myself, even if it means that others get hurt.

Being that archery is my favorite offensive non-magic combat skill, and that Ive never ever played a Bosmer, I was thinking of doing a Valenwood Ranger. Here's the link from the Skyrim Blog.

http://theskyrimblog.ning.com/group/character-building/forum/topics/character-build-the-valenwood-ranger?xg_source=activity

So Im thinking for this character:

#1 stay with archery

#2 no magic of any kind

#3 only do good by helping others in need and do whats best for Skyrim

#4 no vampirism, I'll join the DG

#5 no daedric quests

What do you guys think? Suggestions?

If you want to truly do good deeds. Then surely you will free merciful Hevnoraak from the wicked grasp of Valdar.

What is best for Skyrim is to help the Dominion remove the Thalmor from power, then join the Dominion.

Rangers are always fun. I enjoy them a lot and have always got a lot of mileage out of them. The only thing that truly bothers me is the over use of the "Green Pact". Up to you on how far you want to take that of course. They are not bound by it outside of Valenwood. So you can free up your RP for alchemy easily enough.

Well, Daedric quests don't have to be evil, for some, you can go the ''good'' route and turn it around. Such as with Namira or Vaermina.

Anyway, I personally felt that good can go different ways. My character, Leysa, is good but very dark. The same way could be done with evil morality. Just because somebody's a paladin in pretty armor doesn't mean he's good, could be a brute that seeks to dominate ''lesser beings'' or whatever.

I would. You know Leysa would love to have a tea party with you. Mister Hevnoraak.

Never! Tahrodiis joor! Such blasphemous lip. I am but the best hope for Skyrim yet! And with the blessings of Alduin - praise be - I will usher forth a cultural renaissance. Remind these misguided Nords of whom they once were.

Now come on people.

Hevnoraak's not all that evil. Imagine the life of a poor deadman, wanting nothing but to be in peace.

Yet once he walks outside, everybody will attack him, just because he's undead.

I aspire for the day where death and life may walk together, in peace.

Until you get near the end, snipe Parthy and all your Blade recruits; revealing yourself agent to Alduin. :D

A pretty paladin-looking armor doesn't make the wearer a good character. Therefore someone being a brute that wants to dominate lesser beings isn't a good character regardless of the armor he's wearing.

I'm not sure what kind of suggestions I could give you, since I'm basically only playing good characters and therefore I don't really have an idea what you're looking for.

Immersion is definitely a big factor for me, try to forget you're playing a game and deal with programmed NPCs, instead try to look at them like real people and you're one of them.

That's at least one of the reasons I can't enjoy playing evil characters.

No Daedric quests? You can do The Break of Dawn, that one's valid for a good character. If any of my builds rely on the one-handed skill, I try to get Dawnbreaker (one of the best looking weapons in the game in my opinion).

Thats what i was thinking too...arent Kyne, Azura and Meridia considered good?

Someone mentioned in another thread that Meridia was not asking but demanding that you do what she said. But thats the same impression that Delphine gives me early on. So to me the way Meridia talks is not a big deal. I mean...if you have done the quest, or even listened to what she has to say at the very start...would you rather *not* help her, and you-know-who in her temple just keeps on doing what hes doing?

As far as an actual build...a good warrior is easy to play, just be yourself and treat NPCs like you treat people IRL. Of course if you are a dirtbag IRL, i guess that doesnt really apply. But playing a Paladin like Tolvar mentioned would be even more interesting cause you can add some magic into your build.

Well I would say Savior's Hide. But alas, from a Daedric quest.

Maybe just fur armor or Forsworn armor.
