Its easy you go up into the mountains and walk in, tons of people i know have done it. And im biased we like Canadians here.

The Victoria area is pretty nice as well, and not as congested. Not a lot cheaper though.

Any place called Victoria sounds great.

We're rather fond of Australians here as well, they're well received.

We don't hate foreigners that don't speak french. But we do love those that take the times to learn it. It a question of respect. If I were to immigrate in Catalonia, I would learn catalan and spanish.

We don't see ourselves as above the rest of Canada. And I don't where you heard/learned that " (...) " crap.

As for OP : You won't have problems immigrating anywhere in Canada. It is peaceful. Less than before but peaceful.

That's reassuring and kinda dispels what other Canadians have told me. Never been up there, but it always seemed like a nice to place to visit/live.

This coming from someone just south of the boarder (Michigan), I have to say Canada's great. They have milk in bags, gravy on fries and even beer in there strip clubs (if you're into that). And in spite of what some think, you can own fire arms. The only problem is that when you lose change in the couch cushion it can set you back a couple steak dinners instead of just the laundry money you'd lose in the U.S. But that's OK, because... I'm going to shut up before I get into politics.

I wouldn't come here the politics are so stupid and what they keep trying to push is just saddening.

Also my city (Thunder Bay) has had 12 murders this year, thats as much as Vancouver which is a hell hole due to its multi-culturalism.

Let's see. Population of Thunder Bay - 109,000. Population of Vancouver - 600,000. Yet the same amount of murders in both places. It sounds to me like Thunder Bay is the hell hole, not the other way around. I live in Victoria, which is just as multi-cultural as Vancouver, and I think it's a good thing. We get exposed to many different cultures and perspectives here, without ever having to travel anywhere. This country would be a very boring place if it was left to just the English speaking Anglo-Saxons.


Ah, greetings. Crappy weather out there today isn't it? BTW Andros Weishmeyer, if you decide to move out here to the West Coast, you best be prepared to get rained on in the winter. Though Victoria gets a lot less of it than Vancouver. Another advantage of living here.

I think most of us understand that people are individuals and their reactions to us are based on how we respond to them. So, if you want a positive experience with a place or people, then act the same way your self and it will work out.

It would be a safer place should it be left to them, and yes culture is good but we have to be more strict on our immigration laws rather than let everyone in. If you want culture turn your TV on to the discovery channel or national geographic.

Frankly, as an immigrant myself I find your attitude kind of insulting. If it weren't for immigration we wouldn't even have a country. You do realize that the English speaking Anglo-Saxons were immigrants themselves right? The only natural born Canadians are the Native people. And even they came across from Siberia thousands of years ago. We have so much room in this country, we can afford to be generous with our immigration laws, not be more restrictive. Only about 35 million in the second largest country in the world. Russia has over 4 times as many people as us, so we can certainly stand to have a few more people living here.

Agreed. I have dubbed this phenomenon "the Victoria circle". I can spin a full 360 degrees, see clouds/rain all around us, but above my head? Blue skies and sun. Awesome!

I read once that even in Sooke, which is what, about 20 miles away, they get 20% more rainfall than we do. I call it the "Bubble" myself. Though it does tend to make the weather forecasters look like fools sometimes. One time I was driving down from Nanaimo and we got one of those rare snowfalls. There was snow everywhere in Canada at that time, but as soon as I got to that "Welcome to Greater Victoria" sign on the highway, it was all gone.

Just treat them the way you'd want to be treated, learn the customs they have, ignore the dumbasses, and you'll have a splendid time.

I believe we are too strict on immigration. Immigration built this country and immigrants and many immigrants become productive and great citizens. We do not let everyone in we have a quota system in place for legal immigration. We do have refugees coming into the country and those cases do need to be looked at a case by case.
