idk, just do something different than what you've usually done. My last character used energy weapons, probably the first of mine to do so. Or go in to reach a certain ending, ex:best possible, worst possible, legion, ect

Or design a character based off a famous person in real life/ film character - James Bond, Bruce Lee, The Godfather etc

Legion playthrough, dead is dead.

No chems (stims and RadAway included)
Unarmed, Melee and Survival tagged, guns allowed too (you'll probably just want a scoped sniper rifle for long range, nothing else neccesary).

ive had lots of fun, i experimented with different characters, i have had the most fun being "nice" to the people who deserve it and a total "butt" to the defiant ones, also just killing random people is fun too.

For a character build I suggest you try out a Explosives Exclusively character, no melee, no unarmed, no sniping, no guns, nothing but things that go BOOM!
It's surprisingly fun and challenging to time explosions for enemies that come near you.

Besides quests and faction options, I like playing 6 different character styles.

The "Bruce Banner" - Tag: Unarmed, Science, Medicine - Neutral Karma - House Plotline - No Armor - Labcoat and Glasses/Powder Ganger Simple Outfit (SMASH!)

The "Tribal" - Tag: Melee, Survival, Barter - Neutral Karma - House Plotline - No Armor to Tribal/Light Armor - Will definitively visit Zion

The "Goodsprings Cowboy" - Tag: Guns, Explosives, Survival - Good Karma - Indy Plotline - Light Armor/Riot Armor (No Helmets, only Hats)

The "Anarchist" - Tag: Melee, Explosives, Sneak - Bad Karma - Legion Plotline - Medium Armor/Legion Helm (Boom? BOOOOOM!)

The "Bear Gryllz" - Melee, Survival, Speech - Neutral Karma - NCR Plotline - Light Armor Only (Only source of water is a toilet stall or urinal)

The "Searchlight Survivor" - Tag: Guns, Medicine, Explosives - Good Karma - NCR Plotline - Up to and including Combat Armor (Keep that PIP-Boy Light On for that Glowing One feeling)

Also, if I'm doing speed runs I'll usually just go Guns, Speech, Barter and let'er rip.\

EDIT: Also forgot the "Captain Reynolds" - Tag: Energy Weapons, Unarmed, Speech, Roving Trader Outfit, Good Karma, Indy Plotline. For when the Reavers get to be too much.

Yeah as people have suggested with explosives you can't go wrong, i just wish I could throw them quicker in vats, like 2-3 dynamite sticks at once would be awesome lol
I love setting up mine traps too and go shoot a deatchclaw with a 9mm and see it come towards you as he activates all the mines blowing up as he comes towards you, this has got my heart going a few times when they survive all the mines and you're like 'oh [censored]' better get prepared lol

I too recommend explosives, I'm trying them for the first time and I will say it's a lot of fun. Initially you'll have to really on some sort of back up weapon (explosives are expensive and not too plentiful from the off). I even use them in close quarters (at least the weaker ones like Thump Thump) because I'm crazy like that. In terms of what faction to play with - go with the one you've played with the least so far I'd say, it'll feel less like you're re-treading the same ground that way.

I agree with posters above that explosives can be fun to use! I'd also suggest travelling different ways as you did before, e.g. don't always follow the way the game wants you to, that is
Spoiler
GS->Primm->Nipton->Novac->BC->Strip, try experimenting and travelling through Scorpion Gulch or sneak past deathclaws or cazadores (it's possible).

Yes Man is always a good one to play through if you haven't done it yet.

Its funny to do a completely stupid person with intelligence 1 and charisma 10. Try making it where they always just run around shooting stuff and just dying. A lot. It is pretty fun, especially if you do a dead is dead person with it.

I went with an explosive build DID play through. I think he's going to act as a saboteur for the legion, discreetly placing bombs in places (or in pockets) and then detonating them for maximum carnage/surprise.

An *Anarchist* siding with the legion? Wow.

I'm glad I saw this. I'm working on a stealth /explosives character right now. I'm not sure if I should go melee or unarmed.

And if this doesn't work.. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

Play a sly talking gambler. High luck high speech/ charisma. Keep most if not all guns/EW type skills low....... it makes for an interesting playthrough.
