Third person view

I'd prefer it if it was Oblivion style - centered. I don't like the over the should view much, personally.

WHERE IS OTHER???

Third Person should be overhauled, and there should be the ability to change it in the options menu.

Choices should include- Over Back of head, Over Right Shoulder, Over Left Shoulder, Above, or something else.

I also think there should be some form of assisting during 3rd person combat etc. Your arm should move in the most logical place to hit the enemy, rather than where you attack. You should of course be able to turn this off. You should also be able to target enemies in 3rd person. you should be able to turn this off as well.

I just want third person to be actually a viable option instead of for just screens...

I only play the game in first person really. I only use third person to check out my armor and whatnot, so it doesn't effect my gameplay either way.

Just drop 3rd person view all together. A button is then free'd up for console gamers, meaning they can throw in an extra little feature.

I think they're all rubbish. In fact, I probably wouldn't feel anything if they just toke it out entirely (assuming I can still see my character in menu).

Whereas I only play in third person (unless I'm trying to pick up tiny items off the ground, or pull off a really long-range shot). Ironically enough, I find first person much less immersive.

I thought Fallout 3's third-person view worked best for the ranged combat of that game (I'm not to keen on the restricted trailing camera in FNV though). For a game with as much melee combat as and Elder Scrolls game, I think the centered view works better.

Same here. As long as they keep first person, I'll be happy and buy the game.

Save costs wasted on third person and improve the rest of the game with it. Developing both first and third person views is a waste of resource and it has negative impact on the way the world is built.

If they removed 3rd person, I wouldn't buy it. I guess that's the only thing that would totally break it for me.
I almost exclusively play 3rd person, 1st person makes me claustrophobic.

That said, they should keep the old TES-style or add the Fallout one as an option. Fallout style doesn't work well with melee at all.

I play on 3rd person like every other rpg and sometimes use 1st person to check better the ground or hidden switch on a wall or things like that, but, i would like a camera style like previous game, just improved and with an automatic switch on fallout style whan using ranged weapons. But keep the 3rd person please!

I only play 3rd person, it doesn't feel like an RPG in first person view. And also, the sword fights feel much more smooth in 3rd person. I would not by Skyrim if it was 1st person only.

The 3rd person view from fallout 3 was designed with guns in mind. A centered avatar would mean that the crosshairs and enemy would be hidden when aiming at them.

I would have liked a 3rd person view where when aiming the bow it zooms in to a 1st person-esque view.

Considering I never use third person in either Oblivion or Fallout I'd say I prefer Oblivion style to play in certain situations and Fallout Style to just see my char while walking.

Like it was in Oblivion/Morrowind. TES is not Fallout.

I literally wanted to puke lately when I played Two Worlds 2 because of some smart ass who thought it would be "awesome" to have an off-center camera. I constantly kept hitting rocks, walls and stuff like that when running. Damn it, I hate that!

I want the camera to be perfectly centered. I HATE this consolised "over the left/right shoulder" view like thos PoS games (GoW, etc.).

I am afraid though that it is exactly what we will be getting, based on screenshots - they all show the hero with this "over the shoulder side" view ...

Fallout is the way it is because it better matches up with a shooting game.

So Oblivion/Morrowind style.

Yea who needs to see projectiles better in a game with arrows and magical spe...... owait.

I like fallout way better, I do think it should be an option though. If it isn't fallout style I probably won't even use it... which seems like a waste of programming space.

Both? Toggleable?

Fallout style would be great for magic users and archers.

its their latest rpg game, they seem to have used it like a learning game. Some things they are carrying over should work very well like perks and over the shoulder view, I don't want tes to go the way of fallout... but it doesn't mean they cant take things that work out and implement them.... keeping games the way they used to be can go many ways, in one extreme the game won't progress as a series. Think of what the GTA franchise would be today if they were too afraid of switching to 3rd person from their original top down view.

I use 3rd person view most of the time in Oblivion, only switching to 1st person occasionally for precise aiming of the bow.

Doesn't matter - either way it will be one of the first things modded to be like either anyway.

But if a developer is reading this - check out Saiden Storms third person mod for Fallout 3 - it offers two settings and you can swap between them and also float the camera and adjust each one.

So I have one setting that is like Oblivion and another a less radical version F3.

Have to disagree I'm afraid. Hated the fallout 3rd person, and Oblivion centred view worked just fine for my mages, once you'd gotten used to it. And I'm one of those sad gits who likes the vanity mode, and in Fallout it was just.......broken.

Agreed.

EDIT: I'd still like some way to take a screenshot of my character, but apart from that, the third person view should be dropped.

Yeah let's just limit some option of play that don't affect you at all - because you don't use it. Great thinking there.

I like my character to be in the center when I'm viewing it in third person. So Morrowind/Oblivion, then.
