I'm going to update the opening post to say it is indeed a screenshot.

Yeah, these threads make it seem like the people at Bethesda are a bunch of no good liars. Far from it.

its not that they are liars, its just that they have a known record for displaying truely awesome and amazing things before prerelease and then once the game comes out they fail to mention most of that cool stuff they showed off was cut because it did not work. its not that they lie, its that they hype things up really huge and then don't bother letting people know that feature was either cut or toned down. thats all.

It may be in-engine, but it is not real-time. It was pre-rendered in the game engine, as was all of the cinematic sequences in the trailer.

except they said NUMEROUS TIMES "hey we had to scale things back" about both the AI and the lighting, the two things people [censored]ed about the most. it's not their fault nobody bothers to [censored] read.

cut the [censored] and source [censored] like this before jumping to false conclusions.

Compare that little fluke to the hundreds of things they actually delivered on. A small scratch on a beautiful lamborghini.

With that logic, all gameplay videos are pre-rendered.

Saw this on elderscrolls.com in the Skyrim screenshots section. Was blown away.

Surely it's concept art?

Parts of the mountains look like they could be in-game, but the mist that hugs them looks like it is a painting.
Either way, it is beautiful and awe-inspiring.

EDIT: It is indeed a screenshot! As confirmed by Bethesda's own Pete Hines!

HOLYMOUNTAINMAGIC!

HolyMountainMagic indeed..... A wizard did it...

With that logic, speedruns are pre-rendered.

No, "with that logic" the sequence at 2 mins forward was pre-rendered within the game engine using game assets. The 360 is simply not capable of drawing that scene in real-time at an acceptable frame rate.

I've posted this before. It's a gameplay/or in-game screenshot.

Look at what i've highlighted. It's the "shadow circled in red". Thats what shadows can look like on consoles/and xbox. That would not be like that if it was not in-game screen,it would be really smooth/or smoother.....IT's a in-game screenshot...end of story!

You are underestimating the power of the Xbox360.

Sounds like your pissed off with what consoles can still do. Your entitled to your opinion of course :)
I disagree though.

Are you saying it is a screenshot?

God knows how many low-poly shadows I've seen in games. However I'd like to think Skyrim won't exhibit them.

It's a console screen, it has to have low quality shadows or it's going to struggle. If your a PC gamer, you'll enjoy high quality shadows if you have the pc for it.

I know that he already has changed the original post to show that it is indeed a screen but I also wanted to point out that it has been said many times in the past that it is a screen also. Just one of the many things that show how Skyrim is amazing. As for the low poly textures and shadows, that will be fixed on the PC version.

Closed for review

Yeah, this has people flaming one another and console/platform bashing and folks calling others liars. I'm thinking it will stay closed.
