This CAN'T be a screenshot!?

I guess everyone's divided on what it is.

I think the Creation Engine must be more powerful than we expected.

I used the exact same method that Bethesda used to make the screenshot look like that.
Here is my result:

Sometimes devs will touch up screen shots. I won't accuse Bethesda of this though. I don't know their history.

If it is a screenshot, it's from a high-end pc hooked up to the damn sun.

If you zoom up on the bottom part, you can see some obvious tiling on the terrain and the seams where the rock objects meet the actual terrain.

It's a confirmed screenshot as Mr. Blak has already stated. Game Informer page 48.

One might note though that the filename say "composite" so it's probably a couple of screenshots stitched together, but still.

The Creation Engine *IS* way more powerful and beautiful than people are giving it credit before. Too many people thinking it won't be any different from Oblivion.

It's a composite of two Xbox360 screenshots, shrunken down to remove any AA artifacts. So in a sense it's two Xbox360's rendering that picture.

"@DCDeacon- The mountains on GI's page 48 - screen or artwork? Can't tell but looks awesome either way."

"@faulgor- Screenshot. Pretty great huh?"

Well. It's agreed then.

A really beautiful composite image perhaps made from several screenshots stitched together.

CANNOT WAIT.

i think it's actually just panoramic, they took two shots and edited them together, because they couldn't fit that on the screen all at once. unless the LoD was set to like 200,000, which would be awesome.

Tho I hate to play the devil... could it be... ya know... a screenshot of say the intro cutscene... it's very possible. That said, if that actually is an in-engine screenshot... hot damn.

true, but it wouldn't really be in-game then, and why would GI get a pick of the intro cutscene? which is where that pick is from.

Yes, it's concept art.
And yes, it's fantastic.

You can see it in the "Concept Art" section of the Skyrim site, along with some other pieces I'm sure you'll be impressed by. :)

Its the first shot in the Screenshot area. Concept art is lower down the page.

I guess everyone's divided on what it is.

I think the Creation Engine must be more powerful than we expected.

They already did. Its a screenshot. When the GI article first came out someone made a thread about being cheated, because there were supposed to be a certain number of screenshots and there supposedly were not. Then Pete, on twitter, pointed out that the mountain shot was the "missing" screenshot.

Sometimes devs will touch up screen shots. I won't accuse Bethesda of this though. I don't know their history.

Sorry. All the screens so far are from the 360 version.

not that I have an X-Box, I am a PC player, but I can't help but notice that all the screenshots appear to be in 720p resolution...

I stand corrected.

And no need to be sorry about that. PC version may look even better, no?

Do we have a higher resolution of that picture? Scaling down an insanely large screenshot does give out a flawless presentation since it blurs out most of the imperfections.

Perhaps the testing Xbox that game developers get has different specs, though that might not make sense, or perhaps, the Bethesda Xbox is hooked up to a monitor instead of a TV to allow for much better resolution.

Ignoring the fact that it's in the "screenshots" section of the official site.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. The 360 can play the game in 1080P, so...why couldn't they be in 720P, or is that not what your saying?
