This CAN'T be a screenshot!?

Perhaps the testing Xbox that game developers get has different specs, though that might not make sense, or perhaps, the Bethesda Xbox is hooked up to a monitor instead of a TV to allow for much better resolution.

Or the game itself is being designed for 720p... or some other reason... also why'd you need to hook it up to a monitor for 720p? Most modern TVs should be able to handle 720p, heck even 1080p is becoming near enough normal for all TVs now. That said, for a screen shot or at least a screen capture, the rig usually involved with standard console equipment usually costs more then just doing it straight on PC...

That looks like a pre-render.

Once we leave the starting cave for the intro and get that first look at the outside world...I hope it looks something like this. :P

Like the rest of the RPGs developped by Bethesda, I'm sure we'll all be flabbergasted by the sight we'll get when we'll exit the tutorial dungeon. May it be from a city dungeon or a wilderness one, we shall be amazed as always. :D

If you look REALLY closely, you'll notice that it's possible that it's a panoramic view of in-game mountains (Distant Terrain). But if so, it's obviously staged. I can't make it out for sure, but it's not a clear cut. I do have my doubts though, because of the clouds. They look kinda painted.

Edit: Meh, I think it's concept art. We'll see.

if you look carefully you can see some texture mistakes, and you can see how the shadows has some pixels, meaning that this is all in-game footage my friends. compare it to the trailer ..and for those who dont know, there is a magical thing called bumpmaps. that can be very usefull to create image such as this...

The most impressive part is the sun light and it's interaction with the cloud sprites and the god-rays. That's heavy duty stuff. Makes me wonder if it wasn't taken on the PC.

i like how people are still saying this is concept\Full spec pc\pre rendered when its already confirmed by bethesda to be a in-game 360 screenshot. actually, just two of them spliced together with the edges overlapping, but still taken off screen by GI for there skyrim article.

Where else would it be taken? They are making the game on PCs and consoles got much worse graphics than a high-end PC.

Doesn't mean that we'll really get a good look at the outside till the intro is over. I've betting we'll start in that gorge of a river on the left side of the map, where we won't be able to get a good look at things till we get to the top of that rocky area.

Be that as it may a console still has the potential of GREAT graphics.
That screenshot WAS taken on a 360. Isn't that proof enough?

Bethesda normally does something like that for there games, so i guess skyrim probably won't be very different. i think Fo3 was the best, with the bright sun glare when you stepped outside of the vault. Then walking over the scenic overlook. Ob's wasn't all that jazzy, neither was NV's IMO.

Yeah proof if you can link your source. I haven't seen anything written about it being taken on the XBOX, only that the image also features in OXM and similar because the game itself is COMING for XBOX and PS3.

If I know Bethesda correct, they haven't even started making XBOX or PS3 versions yet, because that's the last thing they do before they ship. (I may be wrong though, depending on how and when they test compatibility and hardware issues.) But, even if I'm a little wrong in that assumption, we're still 7+ months away from the release. I don't think they'll start making multiple version until after all game content has been finalized and they're starting their alpha or even beta testing phases.

(Hopefully Bethesda can give us some insight as to how the process works in their case. Would be interesting to know more.)

it was part of the GI article page 48. There was a very heated discussion on the forums about a missing screenshot, and Pete Hines stated that page 48 was it. The GI article was entirely from the 360.

EDIT: all screenshots\the game play trailer are off the 360.

I know for a fact that Todd has been working on the 360 version already because he said in a podcast that it tends to be his preferred platform.

Ob's was pretty good, wasn't as good as FO3, but it was a stepping stone to getting there. NV would have been just as good if the doc's house was were the graveyard was instead of having it face the stupid down. If doc's house had been up on that hill facing NV, it would have been pretty damn epic.

I'm looking to that moment in Skyrim where you get your first look and just kinda sit there for a while going "Wow..." :P

His "preferred" console for playing games. Todd has made it rather clear he isn't a fan of the PS3 or Japanese RPGs in general. However, he isn't disregarding the PC or PS3, as they have all been equally considered since the games conception.

Also this is an in-game screen shot of mountains in Skyrim (on the Xbox 360 no less). Be happy people. The GI magazine confirmed this a long time ago.

How about all the talk about the 360 and making the game via 360. He stated this in the podcast and In the Interview with GI.

You could just tell he isn't a fan of JRPG's. I'll be honest, neither am I.

it's actually located under screenshots and not concept art on their site.

That is correct, therefore, logically, it should be an in-game screenshot, unless Bethesda is trying to mislead us by passing off something that is not actually in-game at all as a screenshot, which they have not done before, besides, if Bethesda wanted to mislead us into thinking that the graphics are better than they really are, the first thing they should have done was not show us the rapids in the trailer, there are also some flaws in it that wouldn't need to be present with something that wasn't rendered in real time, so I can only trust that it is indeed a screenshot, albeit one of the more impressive ones.

It looks a lot more CGI-ish than the other concept art, too.

That is also true, the style looks nothing like any of the other concept art at all, if it weren't a screenshot, it would likely be a 3D render created for promotional purposes, similar to the teaser trailer (Not the one with actual gameplay.)

That's not evidence, it's just stating that he prefers playing games on the 360 - once they are done. I heard that podcast and I don't recall him ever mentioning MAKING the game on 360. I do, however, distinctly recall him saying that they're making the game on PC.

But let's assume, for arguments sake, that you are correct. How exactly do you propose that they design the games then, when all their design tools (3dMax, the Skyrim Creation Kit, Cubase, etc etc) are designed specifically for PCs and aren't even available for 360 (afaik). Please correct me if I'm wrong, again with a proper link/source.
