This feels a lot like 10,000 BC.

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 2:27 am

Let's see: mammoths, saber-tooth cats, ice-age look, even the people look like characters from the movie 10,000 BC. If I didn't know better I'd say Bethesda is shooting for an Ice-age kind of game. Todd Howard said it's more "connan". I think this game resembles 10,000 BC more and more every time I see new pics. While the theme isn't bad, I can't help but wonder if it will go well with TES.

Well Todd said that the environment will feel more ancient...

And if giant mushrooms and insects went well with TES why can't giants in loincloth and mammoths in tundras?

I have an old Conan the Barbarian comic somewhere around here that has Conan fighting and killing a wooly mammoth.

I think the game resembles an ES title, set in Skyrim. Not a Viking game, or a Conan game, or a game about prehistory.

Well, many of Bethesda's plots make as much sense as that movie...

I don't see reason why ice age-ish style couldn't work in Skyrim

Todd Howard has said he's going for a more "Conan the Barbarian" feel.

The Conan the Barbarian stories took place during "The Hyborean Age" - an "Age before modern history, sometime after Atlantis".

-Screw- the Conan the barbarian feel or whatever ffs Skyrim has been a province for thousands of years, it was standing before Cyrodiil because the Cyrodiil we know today and your telling me Nords are still effectively Banging rocks? with very little infrastructure and poor social order?

ppfft.

I know AOC isnt about Banging rocks, don't get the torches lol

No! They had spears in 10.000 BC. /sarcasm

Just because they have mammoths in Skyrim doesn't give the feel of 10,000 BC. Lets see, more advanced armor, weaponry, and yeah, .... magic! Not quite the same. Didn't see alot of cities, towns, merchants, taverns, or the like in the screenshots so it exactly doesn't feel like 10,000 BC.

Conan the Barbarian

That is why the enemies look old, heck Todd said it himself that they got a lot of inspiration from Conan.

Personal taste is random indeed :P But variety is the spice of life so if Skyrim is going to have a flavor of uniqueness to it then I′m happy.
