talking from the business side of things, yes it's "dead." Crytek waited to long to fix the game, and the game is still not fixed. Also most people look at the user score as apposed to the critic score on the majority of sights such as ign, gamespot, and even metacritic. and the user score is VERY low. in fact they are so low they stick out like a sore thumb on the page so people are going to be more attracted to that. result is the game is not going to sell very well. at least on PC.
The console on the other hand are going quite well, just because crytek never raised a bar on the console with crysis 1, so there is no worries when they release a half ass game. PC gamers expected the bar to be raised quite high because of Crysis 1, but it turns out that it was not. AT BEST it stayed the same (for all you crytek fanboys). But i think they dropped the ball on this one. EPIC fail on there part.
From a gamer perspective, yes the game is dead, and hackers killed it. the campaign mode has practically 0 re-playability and the online is riddled with hackers, put 2 and 2 together. does not make for a very interesting game.
