I bought this game the day it came out.

I am on my 4th replay and I'm still discovering new dialogue paths, quests and dynamics - amazing!

Case in point, the opening quest with the NCR Ranger with the Brotherhood of Steel - there are so many options in just that opening - all covered by dialogue - it is exceptional!

Or the way the Powder Gangers are spread throughout the game - hints are given early on and then followed through on later - excellent!

I truly hope Fallout 4 will feature such depth. Obsidian should be proud!

J

I completely agree bro. So it has a few bugs ya know, w/e. Fallout three was great but there was no mystery and wonder too it! The biggest question was Where's dad? Great to find some people who like thieves much as me!

It's good that you never mentioned the Burned Game, or else you'd be a heretic.

Chris Avellone is pleaaaaased.

I would like a Fallout:Texas to supersede the non-existent game.

On DLC and the quality of Obsidian's writing: I really love how a lot of the dialog that didn't quite make sense on your first play through (the Mojave Outpost guy rambling about "another courier", etc.) is actually in reference to future DLCs. One thing I didn't like about Fallout 3, is that the DLC seemed more like a diversion than an extension of the story and themes of the core game, a problem Obsidian by all appearances has done wonders to remedy. AMAZING game!

I do like the overall style and consistency of New Vegas. I have a few quips about certain things, but mods have addressed them. New vegas does feel more like the heir to the Fallout series than Fallout 3.

Do many good works in the name of Fallout, and the Holy 13 will bless you.

its a good game in terms of story, its back in the east coast where most of the story of the fallout series happens.

but fallout 3 has better "gameplay", basically i have more things to shoot at, and more interesting things to encounter (i got nuked by a verti-bird once in fallout 3)

so, in my book, the 2 games are neck to neck... in different races.

In that same vein I'm displeased they took the time to leave DLC hooks. DLC was inevitable but I'm not exactly psyched about it, along with the fact Ulysses was ripped out. Clearly now he can have a bigger more fleshed out role, but not glad nonetheless. Also, seeing as I found Fallout 2 to not be up to par with the legendary expectations to produce a sequel to one of, if not the best, games created in Fallout 1 Obsidian's effort was pathetic. Now if I grade them in terms of Bethesda who was getting to terms with the franchise and making FO 3 their second fully voiced game and comming to grips with how to make a script not too wordy for the VOs and dealing with their reduction of quality from Morrowind with Howard's objectives to make each game different in story and gameplay even at the cost of having a much simpler story than previous efforts, compared to Obsidian who has some FO 1 minor people, a dash of people who helped on FO 2, and a handful of people working upfront on Van Buren who already knew the franchise and had people like Feargus and Avellone. Well. New Vegas doesn't meet that. But it did expand on Bethesda's effort and reintroduce some Fallout elements missing in the third while giving up a bit more personal story FO 3 had(Barring the lack of player options and say in the MQ) and being the buggiest Fallout ever made both due to the engine and Obsidian's programmers along with the misteps of Beth's own programmers. So yeah New Vegas is good. But no Fallout has measured up to par with the first outting. Bethesda got a free card for 3. If they don't pull out all the stops on 4(And the world doesn't end. And then doesn't end the second time because for all we know Fallout 4 comes out in 2021.) no sympathy from the old Black Isle fans will be left for them.

You do know that out of the five Fallout Games Fallout 3 is the only one to take place in the East right? The first two Fallouts talking place in California and parts of Nevada/Oregon.

I give it a 4 out of 5. Not that there is any flaws but I can still imagine a better game. And I COULD name some others I like just as much (just the same? english is hard.)
For it to get a 5 I would have to say " This cant get any better!". So far it newer happened.

But yes, factions, tinkering, multiple paths etc... very, very good.
Only complaint is that no new DLC will ever get past the vanilla ending. This ment that I ended up playing a character that I had already finished. I agree that there is no way in hell that a dlc could continue after the vanilla, too epic, and I guess I could put the game on the shelf for a few months so restarting would be fun, but I am at my 3:rd character leveling up to 20 or whatever takes time! If I would do that for another 3 dlc:s... I think I will shelf NV until I can do all the other dlc in a row, one or two times....
Hold e sec now I left the thread. Oh well.
