If this is a "PC game first" (Claims Crytek)...

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:18 am

At least you make a fair argument. In many of the interviews with Crytek I've seen, they've promised that they haven't abandoned the PC fanbase despite going multi-platform. And yet here we are. THIS is the main problem, fellas. Many people out there crying for DX11 don't even know why they want it.

How is it people see this DX11 so much? The most I've seen is from the people who like to generalize those who complain about anything, just to look like they had something to bich about angry players.

Don't get me wrong, Crysis 2 is a solid game that looks great as it is. I'm not one of the people desperate for DX11. It's just that no one likes unfulfilled promises. I don't even know if it's Crytek's fault or EA's fault like some people are saying.

I really don't know why there is a discussion 'bout Crysis to be a Console port.

Fact is : "The game is optimized to be playable at consoles."

There are so many many many things that indicate, that this game was made for consoles....

1. The "press a button to enter the game menu" thing.
It's not the point what exactly is written there. "press start to enter" or "press enter to start" rofl.... what a difference -,-
Point is.... PC only games don't have this menu overlay to be klicked away!!!!
At PC I've allready said "start the game" by double clicking at the game icon. -,-

2. There is NO pulldown menu at the game editing section.
For example switching the resolution has to be done be switching through ALL possibilites.
Normaly there would be a pull down menu to select from.

3. Savepoint system. (Svp)
Svp regards the low HD capacity of older consoles.
With Svp you can plan how much HD space is used for safegames.
At PCs you don't need this. Threre is no "gamer PC" with 20GB HD only Oo

There are some more things, like no overlays in menu (especially wepons menu), shortcuts at incoming messages or text information generally.
What most likely is owing to the fact that not everyone has a HD ready 42" TV and long text at the ingame screen would have to be smaler for not take up the whole screen, what would cause in unreadable texts at normal TVs.
Same with weapons menu overlay.

And of course.. the absence of high res. textures. This alone would kill the 512MB RAM of a XBOX 360 (What is even less than my Smartphone got.) -,-

This all indicates the console style of the game.
It feels like s.o. told you, he has got a Porsche and after you bought it, you find out that the silver shiny wheel caps and the bumper only look good from far distance, because they are only plastic with chrome painting film and the interior is plastic as well ahhh and btw...the engine is from an old Fiat... so 60mph only!
Yeah it's still driving.... but.... WTF?

though really disappointed, I still hope that this crysis 2 is just a console version and there'll be a huge patch or expasion pack whatever that changes this console version into a PC version like crysis 1 with open environment, dx11, different nano suit etc.

Aye! But I just tried to say people complain for various (actual) reasons. And the fanboys in denial like to dump the DX11 label on all the complaints in general. Thus, the fanboys in denial are doing most of the DX11 talk, not those who are discontent with this game.

The DX11 is an easy label to smack on the huge amount complaints to make them seem less serious, as it's the least critical of all the flaws.

You make a good point, buddy. =)
It's nice to have a civil conversation in this forum once in a while. Most people just jump into a topic and start hurling insults. =/

I dont care about stuff like 'press start...' its just a visual thing. Its the gameplay that bothers me.
I've been trying to like this games multiplayer, I still play it hoping that it will prove enjoyable but it just doesnt.

*The tiny, console, Modern Warfare 2 style maps limited to 16 players, which is too many, it should be 12 or even 10. Right now half the time you respawn right in front of the enemy or the enemy respawns right behind you. Dont get me wrong here, I would love 16v16 BIG maps, but with what we have 8v8 is unbearable.

*With the way respawn system works and with the size of the maps the whole strategy and teamplay element is taken away. Whats the point in working with your group and flanking the enemy when he might randomly respawn behind you and pwn you and others in miliseconds.

*With so many players on such small maps when you kill an enemy everybody else is immediately alerted of where you are and usualy you dont even have the time to reload your weapon before someone shows up to kill you from behind.

Now on top of that we have bugs which are not related to consoles but still annoying - the xp not saving, unlock progress not saving, bad connection issues (I have yet to see a server below 109 ping) and seemingly random hit recognition (a guy kills you in 2 hits, must be a headshot, but on killcam he obviously shoots your feet).

If I wanted a game that plays like this one I'd just buy CoDblops and at least I wouldnt have to worry about stealth campers.

Lol, yeah, I can't even get halfway through killing someone, and his buddy teleports behind me, and starts putting bullets in my back. Fing ridiculous.

Epic President Mike Capps said of Crytek one year ago

"They've positioned themselves strongly as the 'we're gonna be on console, push one button and it's great on all three platforms' engine."

Says its all. At least, watching Crytek's slow death, no other PC developer is going to make that mistake again.

Yep! Now let's all buy BF3 and Skyrim and boycott Crysis 2!

Personally, I've rediscovered Wars now that new players are starting to play it, and I'm having fun on it.

Hope those servers with 24 hr / Mesa start rotating maps again.

Beach, Shore, Tarmac, and a couple of others are also excellent maps. I'd also like to see some of the C2 maps ported over to Wars. Maybe a few put together would make an interesting large map.

Hehe. If Crysis 2 serves the purpose of getting more people to play Crysis 1 because they see Crysis 2 and how much better the first was, then at least something positive's come out of it right :P
