This game is hard lol

"I'll jump down there. It's only raider. Oh look a death claw. No problemo"

Empty the minimum and she's down to 1/3 health and she's made it to melee range. Power Armor might as well have been a cardboard Halloween costume.

That fight is super annoying but I wouldn't count it as being difficult to have to look for enemies.

I'm just a mediocre player. I play on easy and it's a challenge. I enjoy it though. Makes me think a lot more than FO3 did. I like it. What I enjoyed was the fact that the raiders actually take cover.

Yeah I'm not going to lie, I started on Very Hard and had to bring it down to Hard. It's starting to get easy now that I have I have some good weapons and perks though.

Put it on hard too, and it is what it says - hard! The first deathclaw fight was a long and tough one, by the end I also just hid in the building and took it out!

I'm finding the pipe weapons just don't do enough damage, (I'm also not using vats, although I think I may have to start...)

I started on Normal and moved down to easy after the Deathclaw fight. I'm new to Fallout, and I'm just happy exploring right now. So much fun!

Good let the hate flow through you. I like the fact that it doesn't care if it kills you or not

Started on survivor, only 3 hours in but died after stumbling across some raiders at a pylon and again by the bloatfish things 2 mins later. Other than that all's good so far.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying the difficulty. I started on Normal and I'm glad I did. I can die fast and enemies can be tough to kill..Normal seems like the perfect difficulty for me so far.

They have difficulty settings for a reason, you can play sissy mode if you want.

I will slam my head against a wall for 4 Hours rather than drop the difficulty to anything less than hard. Because this is how games today should be. Unrelenting. Oh you're running low on ammo? let's throw a deathclaw at you.

im only on hard difficulty but i like the difficulty.

i like how traps now are far deadlier than before.

in fo3 and nv, a grenade trap would maybe cripple a limb at most even on the higher difficulties. now its a reload.

i got one-shotted by a legendary raider.

some raider psycho started hammering on my head whilst he was wearing bits of t-45 power armour.

damn stuff hurts now. cool.

If you are fighting with a melee weapon when a perfectly good firearm is available, you deserve to get beaten to death.

I'm playing melee with only a machete since that's all I've found so far and I just got headbutted to death by an armless female ghoul. This is awesome!

That's hilarious!

I haven't had much time to spend playing yet (won't be able to really get into it until Friday), so all I've fought so far are radroaches, mole rats, and a couple bloodbugs. I'm just about to head into Concord though, so I'll see soon enough how tough the raiders are.

Its harder then Fallout 3/NV but its still somewhat easy overall, I am playing on Survivalist.

At first I was having some trouble but there is a way around everything... Kill the deathclaw from a place he cant get you, etc.

I am finding the raiders WAY too easy, their AI is better then older games but still poor. They dont call others in to help. Also, as usual with Bethesda titles stealth is hugely OP. I have 6 agil no stealth assisting armor and I blow a guys head off from maybe 25 yards away, the others run around "where is he" right in front of you morons... I would kill guys in one room and enemies in the next room would be chilling out... how can you not hear gunfire and screams echoing through the building? Once you have an army helmet and standard leather armor .38 does nothing to you, I can just stand and take it, then eat cooked molerat to heal (Why can I eat in combat?)

You need to take gun nut early on, level 1 gun mods are huge, I took the double barreled shotgun from 45-67 damage and with long barrel can kill raiders at medium range in 1-2 shots. Modded 10mm pistol is also a fantastic early weapon. I cleared out the Corvega factory with ease. I died once to a grenade, thats all I fear as far as raiders go. I use modded shotgun/10mm pistol for short range (so I dont run out of 1 ammo type) modded .38 rifle with small scope for medium, with mussel break and good stock it has almost no recoil and I snipe heads, and .308 sniper for long range. Carry weight in this game is insane, with 5 str I can carry enough guns and ammo for a platoon.... AND have enough left over for lamps/hotplates/fans etc.

Alpha dogs were hard at first, but once I upgraded the shotgun they were done, 3 shots. Gunnut+ scrap the starting areas for adhesives/copper/aluminum and things become easy. The game needs tweaks... bloat flies are a far bigger threat then raiders, which is kinda moronic. All weapons need to do more damage, for enemies and the players.

Super Mutants are too easy sofar, they seem to have no or little natural damage resist (their skin is suppost to be very tough) and they should carry big weapons... heavy machine guns, miniguns, rocket launchers, super sledges etc... not pipe weapons. Fallout 3 pussified super mutants from Fallout 1/2. You run into them early you SHOULD die, or run.

Im not melee but if you build right it would be easy... level 1 upgrade of the combat knife takes if from 13 up to 22... thats insane. High strength + high end + high agil + armor/blacksmith/lifegiver and grenades for range would be strong. Farm animals and cook the meat, it has huge healing properties, as good or better then stims.

Incase you want a reference, Im not some uber gamer. Halo The Master Chief collection was what i was playing to kill time for Fallout 4, and I found hard to be hard... a little too hard imo. I am really liking Fallout 4, but I cant wait for the mod tools so myself and others can fix the game.

Awesome stuff, only thing I am going to question is how do you kill raiders so quick on survivalist! I'm playing on hard, a standard raider takes probably 3-4 shells, 2 sniper shots to the head etc. Do you use vats?

I was playing it on medium and already got fked up yesterday, it's really hard. I really don't like this "difficult" thing on games, this concept is dated, game makers should balance the game and it should have no difficult levels

I'm glad someone decided to make this post. Usually people on the internet act 10x better than they are IRL, lol. Yes, it's no shame at all to struggle with this game at times. At higher difficulties especially. They have improved the AI. During prolonged battles, the AI can change tactics and often bumrush you when you are low on health, or caught reloading. What you might have expected to be a simple fight with a couple of LVL 1-4 raiders could turn very ugly at any time.

Interesting. I just cleared Corvega last night, I solo'd it at level 6, very hard diff. Took me nearly 4 hours, and I died about 15 times. Though half of that was because I messed up and ran out the door, 4 raiders spawned with me and just destroyed me in 2 secs. I hadn't used gun mods yet so I was still using a stock rifle, couldn't VATS because they were too far away (4 PER). Had to play hide and seek and take them out one by one. When they got down to my level and charged me was when things got interesting, and heated. I wondered if I was too low level but the raiders were 1-4 so I thought they couldn't be that bad. Oh and I died maybe 5 times inside the factory because once they discover you they charge you and spam napalm grenades, which are really nasty in this game.
