This game is a hoarder's nightmare and fantasy

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 1:10 pm

Most players just have their inner hoarder come out in FO4 a bit.

Those who are admitted self hoarders are faced with a gigantic candy land, but always faced with carry limits no matter how large. At some point, hoarding exceeds carry weight.

The perk for fast travel while encumbered is essential for a hoarder - the stack of plungers just had to bring back, maybe not so essential...but it could be. Maybe. Better take it, just to be sure.

I know how you feel. Just knowing that "everything has a use now" is just raw temptation. I'm really trying not to just grab everything and instead use the favourites system to pick out something I want to make and then scavenge for just those items. So far it's working. I can get a mission done without going back a forth to my base which is doubly useful as I really try to avoid fast travelling wherever possible.

Requires too large perk investment on my character. I just stuff the junk in a mailbox or something, and fast travel it home on several trips.

Only thing i'm using a Power Armor for on this character :hehe:

*twitching as picks up another rusty enamel bucket* I don't have a problem with hoarding . . . really. I can quit any time I want . . .

Why? Just get a companion summon mod and keep summoning filing and
Sending them home. When you get back to base just unload and summon any who have not return yet.

I never liked how you can take 300+ lbs of stuff and then put 300 more on a freaking dog lol. I don'r feel like I'm surviving in a post-apocalyptic enviroment when I can have 30 weapons on me, 30 on the dog, weightless ammo and hundreds of pounds of food and gear.

My experience has been that I'm always walking back from every mission. The comments from Codsworth, every time I pick up a piece of trash makes it all worth it. :)

I didn't know you could even do that? I only have 2 companions shown in the promos so far (the dog & Codsworth).

i love it!!!! im a hourder at heart, and i love the fact that everything has a use. I grab EVERYTHING. With a companion, you can pretty much finish any mission and take everything, and make it home in one trip.

Got to a point where the only things I pick up is duct tape/wonderglue/adhesive. I have so much of the other stuff and if I need more I mark it and go searching.

There's also the lone wandere exploit.
Max out companions load. Send back to settlement of choice.
Gain carry capacity, load up, send self to settlement of choice. If you want more loot pick up whatever companion made it back, thank god if it's pack mu er Strong. Fast travel , repeat as Needed.

Because ironically your first companion may not be back yet... They tend to walk.....and the game aparently times them.

I was about to ask which two since they showed several. Including one Um person of unknown age.

I don't feel there's nearly enough junk lying around. Can't wait to get my hands on the GECK and clutter it up some more. I need 500 tin cans in storage just for peace of mind along with everything I break down to build and I haven't seen a single cutting board so far so that needs to be fixed immediately.

The one major beef I have is that, unless I'm missing something, the only way to scrap all of my hoarded treasure is to drop it all on the ground, enter the building menu and then scrap it one piece at a time. Can't they put in an option to scrap all junk in your inventory?

Playing as a stealth sniper with no companions and 1 strength has not been easy. Well fighting is easy but decided what stays behind and what comes with me is very hard.

In this game all junk is useful, theres no such thing as real junk or trash items anymore x.x

In fallout 3 all I looted was food and gear that I could use, but now I try to loot every single junk item I see 0.0

It should be possible to walk around with a cart or that two headed cow to help carry so much junk

Why are you even doing that? It automatically scraps when you craft..

I've gotten to the point I'm just grabbing the "quality" stuff - circuit boards, desk fans, that sort of thing. Also helps I took the perk that lets me get more parts back from breaking down weapons.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy from a hoarding perspective. But, like in FO3 where I eventually started weeding out loot by value/weight, I've slowly been getting more picky about what I grab. It's made of steel, wood, rubber? Meh, whatever. Gears, springs, circuits, crystal, etc.... ooh, grab that!

It seems that I did miss something. Thanks for the tip.

For such a major new feature, they really should have given better directions on how to use it.

From what I experience the stuff in your inventory that has yet to be scrapped can be scrapped when say building a weapon mod it does it for you automatically if the items are in your inventory

One of the beauties of dogmeat not canceling the effects of the lone wanderer perk,+ 100 units of carry and still able to have a companion that can carry stuff for me.
