The comparison is probably made because of Killzone 3's Operations mode (as well as class system...turrets, disguises, revives, etc.)... but of course, KZ3 did not invent this type of offensive/defensive mission style gameplay. Unreal Tournament 99 did it with their Assault mode, as well as the Enemy Territory games.
But, comparing this game to Killzone 2 is a good comparison, as they are both strafing hipfire shooters (unlike the ADS snap to target shooters that dominate the market), as well as the class system and multiple mission style gameplay. Of course there are the similarities in the map design as well, which is not surprising considering that there were at least two KZ2 multiplayer designers who worked on Brink.
