This game is not made by Bethesda

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2011 8:10 pm

Hey i'm sure this forum gets a few of these but i'm new and it obviously needs another one because a lot of people seem to be confused. Just like to make it clear that this game is made by Splash Damage in the UK. Not by Bethesda Game Studios (US). Bethesda Software published it. That is all. Credit where credit is due.

I think a lot of people know this, but I think a lot of us are disappointed with Bethesda for publishing such a terrible game.

Some people are blaming Bethesda but people ragequit so easily. If it's not perfect they rant away about how THEY didn't like it, but it's good to remember that the forums is a small group out of the players

may i remind u that Bethesda also published new vegas and had a horrible release too. makes me think they rush their devs or dont fund them enough to playtest/beta. They (or Obsidian/ which i believe is in house?) also released a New Vegas patch recently that re corrupted the save files. I was hoping to have a lot of fun with the game but its quite obvious no one played a real 8 on 8 on xbl and how can you not instantly spot those texture render slows, the game looks like n64 half the time. fix asap, not months like new vegas, im sick of sitting around and waiting for games I already bought to magically work someday. gamesas = epic launch fails

Gee thanks. I think you underestimate the general intelligence around here a bit too much.

HOLY moley someone else remembers that epic failure! I remember how excited i was to play the open beta but the game was utterly UNplayable due to the horrible netcode it had, rendering the game unplayable. I remember sniping people only to have their death message appear 20 seconds later after they had been moving around...

And then the game launched with further issues, and MULTIPLE hotfixes on day one.

Just to let you know, I played New Vegas recently and it was awesome and mostly bug free for the short time I had it.

Patches can fix problems rather well nowadays. Whether they should have to is another problem altogether...

Yeah but the producer of the game admitted to the game not being adequately bug-free at launch.

http://kotaku.com/5800024/obsidian-is-sorry-that-fallout-new-vegas-was-so-buggy

Whether it was fixed weeks or months down the line is besides the point IMO.

Why is it being released with game breaking issues, and having patches that delete your saves? I dealt with that enough playing STALKER, being made by a smaller russian developer with far less resources than what bethesda has...

By the quality of comments said you can pretty much see who's a CoD fan and who isn't, the people calling it terrible are just running in there and dying, not all fps games are strictly about amazing KD/R's. I'm quite enjoying the casualness and team work weaves into this game, it's deliciously different

Yeah because judging by my overt negative commentary both here and in the thread i created http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1188959-i-changed-my-steam-username-to-brink-is-broke-do-not-buy/ it is completely obvious that I'm a COD fan even though I have not played one single multiplayer match of COD:MW, nor do i own MW2 or black ops.

I love the content of the game. It's rich, diverse and inventive... The delivery and quality are balls.

I guess I should of stated my comment as more as an assumption, it does come across as factual. It's obvious not everyone plays CoD, nonetheless it was more a stab in the dark on my part seeing as CoD [censored] tend to go to town on games such as these for being different.

New IP's will always be rated harshly. Every reviewer that sees this game as bad is stuck in an FPS mindset where all the point is, is to kill each other. Welcome to an objective based game, kids.

I appreciate your reply, and I agree with your assumptions. I think some of the reviewers are somewhat unfairly comparing this to COD depending on your point of view.

if your point of view is "How does this compare feature/gameplay-wise with COD online" then it is an unfair judgement call because both games are unique in their own ways... giving each game their own personality.

If your point of view is "My entertainment dollars spent matters, and I would like a quality product" then this game for all intents and purposes fails compared to COD in it's present states

Whether it improves or not in a week we shall see. According to friends that got on BF:BC2 at launch, that game was a nightmare, but now I can have fun with it...

I think I feel more let down that I LOVED THE HELL out of WOLF: ET from Splash Damage, but this game is just so flawed right now it's almost unbearable.

(also I don't think it's the fault of SD, but moreso the fault of Bethesda)

That would be a good comparison.. if the lag was unbearable which it isn't.
