Is this going to be the last?

Sorry, I want to get into the Bethesda series, but I feel like it's too late. Will there be TES VI? Not anytime soon, just don't want to feel the series has ended before I've started playing it.

Fallout 4 will be released in November. There is no official word on when the next tes game will be released. Though after the commercial success of Skyrim, I have no doubt they're working on the next one.

It just seems like after Bethesda said that there next game will be the most "ambitious game ever", it seems like they would stop there. Just wanted someone to say if it was finishing.

All game companies use catchy phrases to make their product seem bigger and better before. So long as TES and Fallout stays a successful franchise and reasonably well regarded franchise, the chances of them "ending" is slim to none.

They're not going to stop making games just because Fallout 4 is their "most ambitious game ever". There will be a Fallout 5 coming from BGS (why would they stop making games for a flagship IP where they pulled the name of their engine from), and chances are there's going to be more TES games as well. If the demand is there, there'll be some kind of a TES VI or something.

What we don't know for sure is if BGS' next game after Fallout 4 is going to TES VI or a new IP, or whether or not the next major installment is even going to be made by BGS at all. As far as I know, Pete Hines has not denied the possibility of a new singleplayer RPG TES game, but he also stated that BGS' next game after Fallout 4 might not be an Elder Scrolls game. It's debatable as to what this might mean for the future of the TES IP, but it's unlikely that Skyrim is the last-ever singleplayer RPG TES game. Maybe the last one for the next decade or so, but not the last-ever. Not when there's hot demand for TES VI.

ESO expansions seem to be the only Elder Scrolls releases that we will have for a long time unfortunately. ESO doesn't hold a candle to the single player series, so that is unfortunate.

I guess it depends on what he means by "a long time." A long time to him might be a reasonable amount of time (or even a short amount of time) to someone else.

If by "a long time" he means a time frame like 2017-2019 then I agree. If by "a long time" he means a time frame like 2020-2025 then I disagree. But it's impossible to tell which is which because the phrase "a long time" is meaningless.

"a long time" (and the passing of time in general) is a completely relative term.. for some, 2 years may seem a long time, while to others anything less than 5 is not long at all..

Not to mention that it hasn't even been exactly 4 years yet since the release date of the last TES.

I'm sure we can wait until at least November 11th 2016 before we start anticipating when the next TES will possibly be announced/released.

I seriously doubt this will be the 'last' of this series as long as it remains popular. Bethesda may however lose some of it's long-time loyal Fans with "Elder Scrolls ONLINE' (even if it's free) because some Fans (Like myself) do not care for online-style gameplay. I much prefer standalone, single-player style against a Console A.I. compared to the endless online encounters with players who seem to have no interest in storyline, character development or simply exploring a vast game world. These types (Not all fit this profile, but enough to ruin any online experience for me) appear to be only interested in increasing their 'number of 'kills'. To Each, His Own, but not my style.

I've spent countless hours playing Skyrim on my PS3 console and have limited room to have Multiple console setups. I purchased the PS4 and moved the PS3 to my Grandkids' room. I love the PS4 but really miss playing my PS3 with my never-finished Skyrim (all DLCs). Hopefully we will see a REMASTERED 'Skyrim and possibly FO3 and FONV ! (hint, hint)!

Note to Bethesda... These games made GOTY for a reason! Some STILL like to enjoy them... so keep rolling guys and thanks for the many hours of enjoyment!

You're in luck. Even if it does end, which is unlikely (why kill a cash cow?), the Elder Scrolls games never truly end. If you get hooked on this world, it will last you years. Seriously. The Morrowind subforum is still alive and well, go take a look. More with mods, which I know you can't use, but even on consoles the replayability is insane. Of course, only if treat it like a world to savor, not a bulleted list of objectives to rush through. :)
