Good lord you really expected it to look like that?!?!?!? I figured they would look better than FO3, but not a huge leap! Besides, after viewing the pics it looks like the Chrome Engine 4, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY0xeCYFpI8

The images aren't dreadful but for a game thats coming out in 2012!! You better be damn sure its like the johnny apple seed of the digital era. i.e. it should blow you away.

2011*

Plus I was blown away when I saw the scans. So much I was drooling. Best graphics I've seen in a open-ended sandbox RPG. I bet it will look outstanding in action, and I also believe it will play even better.

Hopefully the anims are better than in that vid, though I'd imagine they will be :)

Metro 2033 is mostly small corridors hence you can spend more resources on the nearby walls and effects, while crysis was rendering entire panoramic views of an island.

+1

And don't forget that guys in Crytek do a lot of R&D work. For example SSAO, volumetric clouds, vegetation animation and rendering. And even more - they are not hiding their shaders and provide a lot of info about their methods and technologies. I'm almost 100% sure that Bethesda took some ideas about snow and ice rendering from Crytek's papers and shaders :)

We have no idea what the [censored] graphics are gonna look like we have only seen grainy scans that look great btw, so why dont we all just stop making assumptions based on these photos which if they were'nt grainy I am pretty sure they would be better then red dead redemption, and try to remember people that this game is set in the ancient world where there are really freaky creatures that wouldnt translate well to the real life environment that you see in games like hunter, and you might also remember that Game Informer reps have seen a demo and walked away singing "I ironed in my pants" which is why they decided to do a 14 page spread in the first place,..... and mighten it not be in Bethesdas best interest to keep aspects of the game back for release a chunk at a time, why give us all a heart attack of joy so near the holidays lol

Get a life, OP. The Skyrim graphics are going to be revolutionary.

They're going to be good, but I don't see any aspect that has not been done before in the last years.

They are the trailblazers of RPG's!
:bolt:

Sorry. I like their game (TES), but IMO they've just decorated the path.

It's not the consoles holding back development it's the 32bit runtime. We are standing at the pinnacle of what the 32bit program is capable of. Next big improvement in gaming will come in the transition from 32 to 64bit.

The graphics are fine. They are much more polished and detailed than Oblivion. Consider we are still in the same generation as Oblivion.

The game looks amazing! I don't know what you people are talking about :( T_T, thank you thy lord Bethesda Studios!

Agreed...I seriously don't get what people are complaining about.

Besides online screens are mag scans which look half as good as the actual magazine, plus IMO screenshots don't really show how a game looks like AND Beth still ahve 10monts to polish and optimize the graphics.

Man, there's not even actual technology that allows such graphics...

Well thats not really true. The technology is there to render such graphics as we saw with Avatar.... you just have to deal with 1 frame every 20 minutes.

They should just jump directly to 128bit :)

The graphics look great. I don't understand [censored]ing about them anyway when the gameplay is ten times more important.

1 frame every 20 minutes.
or every 8 hours as the case may be.

Still... Its getting there. This looks promising.

The whole premise behind this thread is stupid. Also, the graphics, so far, look fantastic for Skyrim and anyone who doesn't think so probably has no understanding of graphics in sandbox video games.

Yes, this! To all of you complaining, name one open-ended, sandbox game with such depth and complexity as Skyrim that has better graphics!

Red Dead Redemption

As much as I loved that game, the graphics were by no means spectacular.
