Red Dead Redemption

I believe he said with as much depth and complexity.

Red Dead hardly even has an interactive world, at least not the way the Elder Scrolls do. I do love that game though.

Like the second post, maybe in 2 gens. Over just the passed 4 years, graphics have greatly improved. Just wait it out and enjoy the now, the gameplay will be soo great you'll feel like the graphics are that real. :)

Red Dead Redemption

I've played RDR for about 50 hours.

The graphics were all right, but not spectacular. And performance was horrible at times. From what I've seen, Skyrim looks just as good, if not better.

Graphics look fine to me, and I've just seen scans of the magazine. Frankly though, magazine pics never do a game justice.

Yes, Skyrim is supposed to look like a real life with more bloom, higher contrast and some added blur via photoshop....

Also it should be played using only YOUR MIND.

While I agree that gameplay is much more important,I think the picture does resemble a video game and that graphics can be achieved today. Not an unrealistic demand for a game that's going to be released a year away.HOWEVER,yes,if the realistic graphics is the concern, just look out of the window.

I'd be totally fine with playing a TESV with "Better Bodies Morrowind" graphic level to have more land, more item -kinds- and more of any stuff.I want physics though, you cannot experience that in real life and stay healthy ;D

Well thats not really true. The technology is there to render such graphics as we saw with Avatar.... you just have to deal with 1 frame every 20 minutes.

Obviously, I meant in real-time (at least 25 fps). Single-frame photorrealistic images could already be rendered since POV-Ray went out in the 90s' :P

That doesn't even look good. A nice picture with a blur filter applied to it? And it looks like it's got some bloom too? Disgusting.

I don't think we should be alowed to complain over the graphics before we see an acctual trailer of good quality! I remember how good GTA IV looked on the pictures and the trailers, but when i finaly got my hands on the game it looked like crap, sadly.

Let the complaining begin after we have seen a trailer or a game-demo

Red Dead Redemption

Sorry dude, RDR doesn't hold a candle to what I've seen in the screens even Uncharted 3 will have trouble keeping up with this game.

Secondly, GTA IV was AMAZING at the time it came out.

The graphics are pretty bad for all of those that say it looks good go buy a high end pc then come and reply I dont want no graphics that look like a game dating back to 2005. For a game that comes out in near 2012 it better look the part and I mean on the PC and i know there are a lot of you that want jaw dropping graphics for that platform.

Do remember that the consoles of the current generation are getting outdated, it's an undeniable fact. As long as MS and Sony don't release new consoles, games won't develop much further in terms of graphics. Maybe slightly, but if we want considerably better graphics in our games these companies have to provide us with new consoles, with new, up to date hardware, capable of running up to date games. Right now MS and Sony are holding back the development of visuals in games, and sadly, Skyrim will be affected by it. Bethesda are amazing devs, but they can't do wonders with hardware as outdated as the hardware in today's consoles.

Sorry to say, until new consoles arrive on the market, visuals will basically go nowhere. Unfortunately it's holding back the PC gamers as well, since they have to adjust to the consoles.

So according to Pete Hines, the mountains at the top of page 48 is a screenshot - not artwork. That seems impressive to me.

You still believe in what Bethesda guys tell us? Let me remind you: Radiant AI, dynamic shadows in Oblivion. So until we see the gameplay video we can't be sure about anything in Skyrim.
And btw he didn't tell you that this screenshot was not edited in Photoshop
IMHO ofcourse.

Could you prove this statement? Because if you reverse rendering process in Oblivion you'll see that it is very unoptimized one,

It all really depends on what version the screens are from, although I think it does look as spectacular as it is. Still, scans never do a game justice.

And going back to RDR, it would probably look a lot better on a PC, but alas, they don't seem to have any intention of porting it over. The thought of the current crop of consoles lasting until 2015 is just awful really.

Do not care about graphics. I am far more interested in gameplay. I'd rather a long game with depth that looks like Morrowind than a short, shallow one that looks like Crysis. And yes, typically it is one or the other.

With mods I am actually quite sure you could get ES V to look like the OP's image.

Modded Oblivion still looks really pretty and there are a few versions of it almost all cannot play (MTAEVWD for example).

Those two had completely understandable explanations why they weren't able to be implemented. But I believe Bethesda this time, Fallout 3 lived up to my expectations and hype, and I am sure Skyrim will too. :)

They do have a certain verve when it comes to open world RPGs.

Could you elaborate on that? What do you mean "almost all cannot play"? As in "almost no one can play"?

And what is MTAECWD? Midas Touch something?

1003968435th time I've seen that photo.
Anywho, I'm satisfied with the screenies we just got in the GI issue, Skyrim is already leaps and bounds ahead of Oblivion in terms of aesthetic appeal.

I think the graphics look pretty sweet. To be honest, I didn't think they were going to look that good. Beth scrapped Gamebryo for a new in-house engine, so I'm surprised they even had to to up the ante that much on graphics.

What I've seen so far, the graphics look very nice. Did anyone even see that Nord womans face? It is true, there are better graphics out there, but Skyrim is MUCH closer to industry standard than any other Beth game. Give them some credit, it looks pretty good.

I would be happy with Oblivions graphics, as long as they fixed the Robotic animations.

You know, I'm quite happy myself too.
The only thing I can see be improved is the HDR and Dynamic shadows. They are great features (HDR is obligatory nowadays though), I'm especially glad for the shadows, don't get me wrong.
Judging from the screenies though, I think that Bethesda should tweak the HDR and Dynamic shadows a bit further. I'm hoping for that.
It can make Skyrim look more Crysis-like ;)
