Is This Likely To Get Dev Support Like TW3?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 1:25 pm

The Witcher 3 was patched numerous times by CD Project Red in the first month or so after release, will Bethesda be doing the same? What is their record in regard of patches?

They patched Skyrim a number of times, so I do not see why it would be much different here.

Sadly they seem to rely on modders to fix most things and that may be even more so now that consoles are getting mods. The unofficial Skyrim patch fixes literally thousands of bugs many of them quest breaking bugs

There actually is one difference. Bethesda Game Studios patched The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for 1 year and 5 months.

CD Projekt RED has said they will be patching The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for 3 years and some even speculating up to 5 years total.

Personally I would like to see video games finally have support for 3 years and even 5 years.

Also Treyarch said they will support Call of Duty: Black Ops III for 3 years. With DLC's and patches.

Well, Beth is pretty much like any other studio when creating patches within a reasonable time frame. But unfortunately, they are not famous for fixing their games completely. As for CDPR, the only thing I can say is that never have I seen a company create patches so fast as they have. I think they were working literally 24/7. Keeping in touch with their fans as to what they were working on. In fact, it is my understanding that they have made a commitment to support TW3 for three years. That's customers service.

Hahaha, Ballowers, I got ninjad by you.

If rumors are true. I heard CD Projekt RED employees even worked during the weekends to fix bugs and roll them into the patches.

Seriously I have so much respect for CD Projekt RED taking time off from being with their families at home to go to the studio to fix bugs in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

They deserve as much money as they can get from selling The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Bethesda released a total of nine major patches for Skyrim in that year and five months. One of them (Patch 1.3) was shoved out the door very quickly because the previous patch (1.2) just flat-out broke a bunch of stuff in the game. The last patch (1.9) introduced the Legendary features, but broke lip syncing in the game. They still released that as the Legendary Edition (the package including all DLC).

At best, their record is mixed. It's certain you won't see the level of support CDPR continues to give TW3.

Bethesda is horrible with patches. You have to wait months, MONTHS! At least with CD Projeckt Red you wait weeks and sometimes get 2 patches a month.

Also with Bethesda they leave a lot of stuff broken and not fixed. That is one of the things that is SMAMEFULL for working with Bethesda. You look like an idiot some times. Now that being said, they do great work. I love their TES and Fallout games. While I am harsh on their bugs and patch work, I give them praise for the great work they do though.

But this being about patches, yeah, Bethesda is mediocre the best when it comes to patches. You can be waiting forever to get one of your bugs patched. Vampire bug for Oblivion anyone? Not fixed at all, at least on PS3. So yeah pretty shameful on Bethesda's part there.

I wouldn't be surprised. TW series is a special product not only for CDPR but for the whole nation of Poland. I mean even the Prime minister of Poland congratulated CDPR. The game is literally their national pride. It's no big wonder why they want to babysit TW3 for three years.

I've purchased a total of 7 (Was 5, now it's sold on gog.com so 7 total that I purchased now) copies of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, 4 copies of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, 4 copies of Fallout 3, 2 copies of Fallout: New Vegas, and 2 copies of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I purchased 6 copies total of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt one of which I gifted to a real life friend of mine.

If Bethesda Game Studios supported The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for at least 3 years, with some stuff I won't mention here as it's for another topic and if they did the same for Fallout 4 I would just go insane and purchase 5 copies of each of those 2 video games as well.

The post-launch support for The Witcher 3 has been incredible.

The game at launch compared to now is a major difference. Not to mention the free map and soundtrack disk I got with my game.

I do hope Bethesda take a leaf out of CD: Projekt Red's book when it comes to community engagement regarding suggestions/criticisms etc. The Witcher 3 community asked for bigger fonts, they got it. They asked for better character movement, they got it. They asked for better inventory management, they got it. Those are just a few examples.

Bethesda devs aren't talking to us but I hope they're listening and acting on what they've read.

If it is similar to what we're used to for their patches, we won't get changes like a redesigned UI or new features, free added content or major rebalance. We'll have bug squashing (often with even more added uh uh :). I don't remember them ever changing a game once it's released.

Well for Skyrim Bethesda gave horse mounted combat, underwater effects, and I think Legendary skills. Still nothing like Projekt CD Red and nothing like what Bethesda did for Morrowind for PC users.

Which is why I am impatiently waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 even though there is hardly any information on it. Played the Witcher series except for the latest Witcher 3 expansion, but my tastes run into the Science Fiction rather than Fantasy.

I'm looking forward to that one too. From a visuals standpoint, the trailer had a definite Blade Runner vibe to it.

Don't forget you will be able to fully customize your Player Character (PC) and choose male or female to play as.

Also CD Projekt RED is investigating making you be able to drop and pick up every single item in front of your face like in Bethesda Game Studios developed video games.

I heard that game is going to be amazing because it will be more "rpg", more customizable than TW3. I'm glad they are taking a break from the medieval fantasy theme because often in art staying in the same place can ruin creativity, making you stale. As an artist myself, I often do something different in order not to burn out.

I hope we get some more new about it next year, bc im to more fan of the science fiction. If not i think i will going to have my science fiction fill next year with the new Mass Effect game

I hope to see next year an alpha game play footage. I'm not too fond of cinematic trailers even though I love the exciting visuals of it all.

i dont expect this game to get the same level of feature adding that cdpr did with tw3

cdpr always add things. sometimes even remake entire sections of the game.

bethesda in my experience, only fix bugs. add a couple small, unwanted things like extra killcam animations and then slowly the patches get smaller and fewer until they give up entirely after the last dlc gets released.

bad practice. theyve always done it though.

again CD:PR didnt remake nothing just fix issues or stop exploits. ppl should stop inflating what CD:PR did on the Witcher 3. One of the unique think they did was add those 10 free DLC (armors, new looks and [censored] like that)

I dont think how much will going to get from Bethesda but for what they say before release the game, that they want to give more bigger support to the game. We need to see and wait, is just been the first week.
