This Machine or Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle?

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 10:28 am

I'm stuck between the two, with This Machine chambering 8 rounds (compared to Gobi's 6) and its 22 AP. However, the Gobi has a x5 Critical Factor (ensuring almost 80% crits.) with 33 AP. Also, the DPS is assuredly higher than the Machine's.

Which?

Neither, Anti-Materiel all the way.

Nothing makes me feel better then pumping a .50 armor piercing round into a baby deathclaw in the morning..

I'd pick the Gobi but me personally I prefer adding a silencer weapons mod to my regular Sniper Rifle.

I would of course highly suggest The Gobi as my choice.

But as mentioned the Anti-Material rifle is truly my favorite sniper rifle.

But feel free to experiment with all three and see which suits your play style better. Remember it is your choice.

Hope I could be of assistance.

Good luck

That thing is heavy, and to be honest, I really don't like how it clips in with the NCR Ranger Combat Armor. Also, it's just plain expensive.

I haven't used the Gobi rifle. This Machine was my weapon of choice, since I picked it up. I did use a regular sniper rifle for a short period, though. I think This Machine is superior in close range. It seems to be easier to get it on target at close range. According to Fallout wiki This Machine does more damage per shot, but the Gobi has a higher chance to crit. Also, This Machine does more critical damage.

I would use the Gobi for long range, for the scope. If the target is within 'nade range, switch to This Machine. If you're planning to strictly snipe, use the Gobi. If you're looking for an all-purpose rifle, use This Machine.

The Gobi is a long-range sniper rifle while This Machine is a medium-range rifle. It depends on your play style, if you like being sneaky and one-hit kills from far away then I'd go with the Gobi, if you like to sneak in close try This Machine. Personally, I like my Sniper Rifle with Carbon Fiber Frame and a Suppressor over both of them, its a shame that the Hunting Rifle does not have a suppressor mod, It's be awesome to have 4 Hunting Rifles for every job.

I prefer "This Machine" as it wipes away my enemies really fast.
I also prefer a silenced sniper rifle over the Gobi Campaign Rifle.
Sure, it looks great with Ranger Veteran Combat armor, but its the silenced rifle that got me one the armor in the first place.

This Machine. It's highly accurate, pretty quick to fire, does a ton of damage and it's just awesome.

I tend to find mine first at the 188- the female gun trader on the bridge.

I only used the Gobi for about ten minutes before I started using the anti-material rifle. My preferred load-out is The anti-material for big enemies, a Sniper (Gobi if my lockpick is high enough, but I only got it on one of my playthroughs.) and the Brushgun. The Brushgun is actually my favorite, plus cowboy perk and HP rounds make it do like 95 DMG.

My silenced carbon fiber sniper can stop a deathclaw much faster than even my AP .50 cal rounds.

This machine is a separate gun in its own, and I like to silence my snipers, which you can't do on the Gobi.

I'm with the others, Silenced Sniper is one of my favorites especially with the Carbon Fiber frame, what's it weigh like 3 pounds? Have to admit though, using a Garand in Fallout is so fraking awesome. One thing I was personally looking forward to on here. But for getting through to those tough skins I have Boone using the Anti material Rifle AND the Gobi, just take away the ammo of the Gobi for him to use the AM Rifle, or vice versa. He's real good with the AM rifle.

This Machine has soul. The M1 Garand is a beautiful firearm with a legendary past.

Other than that, I have to agree that the Anti-Materiel Rifle is the best sniper weapon. Trust me, once you see your enemy launched into the wall behind them from the force of the bullet, you'll never look back.

Well this is the way i use my items. For the long range instances go with the sniper all the way. But i like to think The Machine as an brush gun, but a unique version of it. Sure they may not look like the same gun, but their both accurate automatic rifles that have close no mods ( the brush gun has decreased weight). I usually use the machine because of this for medium ranges, then pull out a hunting shotgun for close ranges.

Hehe, I found a mod that allows for unique weapons to be modded (for example, the Gobi with a silencer), so I have the best of both worlds.
