So I was thinking earlier today about how Lincoln's Repeater was a weapon that everybody loved in Fallout 3 and is iconic to the game, and This Machine is the same way in New Vegas, iconic in the game and a gun that everybody loves.

So I'm wondering which one people would pick if they were both in the same game and you could only pick one. Say that your just starting out and you have to pick one and use it for the rest of the game. I'd take This Machine myself, Lincoln's Repeater is great but it depended on vats too much and I like to be able to just aim down the sights and shoot, plus its got a faster rate of fire and reload time.

Personally I don't love it. I use Fast Shot, which doesn't go well with This Machine. Medicine Stick for me.

This machine because, well, it kills commies.

I liked Lincoln's Repeater in Fallout 3, but never loved it.
I never actually used This Machine much on account of not knowing what to use it for.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick the Repeater. If I had to choose what I personally think the combustion mascot of New Vegas is I'd pick Lucky.

This machine is much cooler I think. Just as Patton what he thinks of the garand.

I would go with This Machine. In my opinion it is the only legitimate rifle of its kind in the game, unlike that weak Battle Rifle. Lincoln's Repeater was nice, powerful, & just made Mr. Lincoln justify killing vampires even more so, but it just had that taste of the law bringer in FO3. But then there is Vegas! This machine suits it it my opinion.

It is? Personally I didn't/don't use it that often. It's okay, but I don't think This Machine is anymore iconic in New Vegas, than That Gun, or any other special weapon in the game.

Lincoln's Repeater hands down. This machine is nice, but it's so-so accuracy is its downfall.

This Machine easily. The M1's history combined with the Guthrie reference makes it. But you know the great damage, ROF, spread, and such are nice touches too.

This Machine! That plus automtic rifle, .45 SMG, and .45 pistol is one of my favorite loadouts by far. If only there was a mod for authentic WWII clothing

This. I LOVE the way Lucky is introduced. No one's carrying it, no note or backstory is attached to it; it's just there. Other character's have their signature weapon; Graham has ALSID, Ulysses has Old Glory, but Lucky? It's the Courier's weapon. It's yours to use.
Lucky definitely gets my vote for being the mascot weapon of Vegas, and it's surprisingly powerful in the right hands (saved my ASS in Old World Blues, 100% sure I would've died had I not taken Lucky) despite having such a modest base damage.

Lincoln's Repeater seems like the mascot weapon of Fallout 3 cause it's such a patriotic, powerful and legendary weapon. New Vegas? Lucky fits the theme of Vegas perfectly and has no backstory or previous owner, suggesting it's intended to be the Courier's signature weapon, imo.

I've never used either of them. Iconic? Don't think so.

Split many goul heads with Lincoln's repeater. I'd like to see what I could do with iron sights. Carried This machine everywhere but I always switch weapons depending on the situation.

I'm not sure it's fair to compare them this way. Bear in mind that the Repeater was in a game that didn't have the DT system or the Iron Sights system, if the weapon is ported to New Vegas it would need a lot of rebalancing. I personally prefer the Repeater cus it looked so much cooler.

Hahaha. Yeah i think though if i had to choose id choose lincolns repeater because IMO the hunting rifle is a better 308 weapon and i tey to have only one of each ammo type.

The repeater because traitorous rebels are a bigger danger to my wasteland than some imaginary Commies
