This series is being dumbed down at an alarming rate.

Lots of complaining here, eh?

One of the grandest undertakings of video gaming to date.

It's the very definition of an RPG.

Yes this is not an RPG in fact it cannot even be classified as a game, its closer to a ham sandwich than anything else

It is most definitely an RPG, and is damn good at what it was made to be good at. It is not a conventional RPG, no, but change isn't always bad

Absurd. RPGs vary and genre classifications for many things media related are often flawed. But RPG has been one of the widest genre classifications and when some RPG fanatic of a specific taste doesn't like something they will claim X game is not RPG because they didn't like it. The RPG elements are there, and it's obviously not simply an action game.

What a terrible and completely inaccurate description.

It is more like a chicken salad sandwich with extra onion and salad creme, lovely to try but over too quickly. :P

The game is an Action/RPG Hybrid.

If Elvis Presely's "Hound Dog", AC-DC's "Back In Black", Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit", and Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven" can all be classified as "Rock", then Skyrim can still be considered an RPG alongside Daggerfall, Baldur's Gate, and Diablo II.

You know what makes an RPG? fist is the ability to talk a lot with NPC, second... quests, Skyrim has both! so its either an RPG or you are just BUTTHURT for some reason.

It's more of a Italian with the works.

Packed with all the best meats, only the necessary veggies, and unhealthy.

What are you comparing Skyrim to? Previous TES games or current RPGs?

What debate? All that is going on here is you're making a pointless claim and everyone else is flaming you. Let this "argument" die.

Its a RPG...just a really bad one. Although it has it's other good points. I think TES was always considered a deep RPG, now its a RPG lite action game with a sandbox and pretty graphics.

I blame the consoles and the causal console kiddies for the ruining of MY TES! I especially blame the PS3 crowd, I mean com'on! That [censored] can't even handle Skyrim! Thats why I believe Skyrim is not longer an RPG but a [censored] action adventure port!
