This is probably a stupid question

What year do you start out at when you play Morrowind? Is it 426 or 427? The letter at the census and excise office says 427 and all the books of all the houses say 426

Doesn't show the year like in oblivion.

Oops, I was sure it did. I'd assume the census letter is most accurate, if you are talking about the books that show the great house councilors, they could have been written anytime earlier.

I believe this belongs in the "Lore" selection. I'll go ahead and ask a moderator to help you change this.

yup sounds like lore to me, fair play for spotting that, though i'd probably go with the letter as books are more likely to be out of date!

The books for the great houses are like year books, they're written once in a while to list all members of a house. They are slightly out of date now.

You, the player, arrive in 427.

well, since the question is answered, I may as well tell you this: there is no such thing as a stupid lore question. If there were, I'm a jibbering idiot along with everyone here.

I agree. There are dim questions all the time, but we were all dim once.

In a Socratic way almost, I do like to ask very simple questions, to see how other people describe or explain things.

What was the Heart of Lorkhan anyway?

The Heart is the center that cannot hold, devoid of lines and points...devoid of anything, thus becoming a receptacle known as the heart of the Second Serpent which holds the Secret Triangular Gate that, when turned sideways, reveals the secret Tower within the Tower, shaped as the only name of God: I.

There can definitely be stupid questions, however what is a stupid question from one person may not be from another who is just genuinely ignorant (in the actual sense of the word). Being uneducated is fine, that can be remedied (usually by answering their questions), but there are stupid people out there who ask stupid questions and not much can be done about them...

The center that cannot hold is actually a bit bigger then just the Heart. :)

I mean as in "a question someone genuinely dosen't know the answer to and wants to know because TES lore is cool" type of context.
