I always knew there once was supposed to be an Elder Scrolls game for the PSP, but did they actually release http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kYyu9E4Dh0&feature=related pictures of it? If so, why was it cancelled after being that far in development? If not, why was it cancelled anyway?

Not that I know of. I'm pretty sure it was canceled before we even had any information on it. But if those are fake they're pretty decent fakes.

That's what I had read, as well, but those pictures look perfect for a PSP version of Oblivion.

Some of those pictures are real, but most are not. The game didn't have any outdoor areas.

I seem to remember seeing the one with the Mythic Dawn assassin somewhere else too... I think its a toss up, a few look legit but a few look possibly a little too powerful

Some of the those pics look like Fable 2, with the Oblivion UI superimposed over them. The rest are real though.

The studio that was working on this shut down and it's parent company decided not to continue this project. We never got much explanation for this, in fact I don't believe its cancellation was ever actually announced, it just disappeared. I'm not even sure if it was public knowledge that this wasn't being developed by Vir2L, probably somewhere but I myself didn't find out until the game had been dormant for some months. Granted I don't have a PSP so I was never really following it but when we started getting lots of threads asking where the game was I thought I checked it out well enough. :shrug:
